About Me
I am a highly experienced therapist licensed in Ohio with over 40 years of experience providing individual, couple, and family counseling across a wide spectrum of persons and life-style choices. Though having successfully treated a large variety of personal and relational problems over the years, my most common successes have been in helping persons solve their anxiety, depression, traumatic memories, grief and loss, of aging, or marital and other relationship problems.
As I work to help free up the stuck places in people's lives, I draw from their own strengths especially but also my own strengths and experiences achieved over the course of my own 74 years, 53 years of marriage, and 43 years of post-Masters clinical training. I draw from my 1977 Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from The Ohio State University, as well as a 2002 Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree from United Theological Seminary. My specialty training over the years has been in Structural/Strategic Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Gerontology. My work is informed by a strong spiritual faith from a Christ-centered perspective. I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy that begins with the present but utilizes past and present strengths to build toward your own preferred future.
If you are ready to take the first steps toward a more satisfying life, I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!

Reviews
I've only had a few sessions with Rev. Held but I find him to be very receptive to my needs and he offers a tremendous amount of support.
I was so unhappy when I saw better help matched me with a reverend... I gave him a chance despite my biases and I am so happy I did! It was the best therapy experience I’ve had yet. He is a kind and compassionate person and nothing like the people I associate with church and religion. I hope you give him a chance too.
He really cares about my problems and sends helpful worksheets and tips to dealing with my issues
Very supportive and helpful! Listened carefully and offered fantastic suggestions!
Rev. Held is a great listener and offers many options in how to approach counseling. He is a caring man and I am glad to have had the chance to talk with him.
Very excellent counselor has emphathy and respect and very good traits when it comes to the people
Very polite and with a big experience, I feel good about talking to him.
Rev Held is a great listener and gives great advice.
Rev. Held is a great listener and is intuitive in his follow-ups after our video sessions, providing 'homework' reading for me to help myself with. He does not seem to poke and pry much, rather listen and guide. I do not leave sessions feeling judged, only encouraged. I also feel he has an understanding of artists and how they fit (or rather don't always fit well) into society, so in this sense I feel 'seen.'
Very helpful and professional. He listens and helps with everything I talk about. He genuinely cares.
