Are you ready to take that first step? My name is Danielle Akinsade and it is my passion to help others be their best selves. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and I have been working as a therapist for 12 years. I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Grand Valley State University and my master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Indiana University-Bloomington. I have experience working with children and families involved with Department of Child Services, medical assisted treatment centers for addictions, and my own private practice. My client’s mental health needs range from depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, substance use/abuse, relationship issues, LGBTQ, bipolar disorder, suicidal ideation, panic disorder, parent-child relationship issues, and grief/loss.
My therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Approach, and Motivational Interviewing. I use different therapeutic techniques to assist my clients and each client has a personalized treatment plan. When working with clients I like to build a strong therapeutic rapport to gather a clear understanding of the client’s need, the goals that they want to address in therapy, barriers to progression in therapy and objectives to reaching their goals.
My philosophy in working with clients is that I “come alongside you”. This means that I work with you, help you understand where you are in the process of change, motivate you to move towards the next stage, assist you in the process of successfully completing each stage and move at the pace that you set. The client’s progression in therapy is often dictated by the level of engagement that they have and the willingness to make progress. I will always have open and honest communication with clients as well as empathy and respect.

Danielle is very attentive. She knows when to focus on a topic and how to coach me through some of the harder things.
