About me

Hello, my name is Danielle! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and I have been a counselor/ therapist for 6 years. In this time, hundreds of people have honored me with their stories and trusted me to help them improve their lives. In our work together, we will collaborate so that you can learn to be more kind to yourself, feel more connected to loved ones, and strengthen your capacity to weather difficult times. I use client- centered and solution- focused techniques to help you empower yourself to identify and achieve your goals. In other words, you are the expert on you! I make room for you to express yourself without the fear of judgment.

I additionally integrate mindfulness- oriented Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, meditation, and relaxation techniques to help you lessen the impacts of negative thinking, trauma, anxiety, and other issues. Upon request, I also incorporate resources from a variety of 12-step fellowships, including Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families (ACA). I am passionate about working with women, older adults, LGBTQ- identified folks, and anyone who is motivated to learn more about themselves and do the hard, but rewarding work of healing.

Education:
The University of Texas at Austin- Masters of Science in Social Work, Clinical Concentration. 2011- 2013
Sonoma State University- B.A. Psychology; Minor in Sociology. 2006-2009

Experience:
I started my journey in mental health counseling at Austin Lakes Outpatient, where I co-led intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization groups as an intern. I then had the wonderful opportunity to intern at Waterloo Counseling Center, where I provided individual counseling to primarily LGBTQ folks. After graduating from UT Austin, I worked as community- based ACT Clinician in Carbondale, Illinois with people living with severe and persistent mental illness. From there, I became certified as a LCSW and moved back toward providing individual counseling with adults. I relocated to the New Orleans area last year, where I currently work with a variety of people, many of whom are living with HIV and other chronic illnesses. I have previously served as a crisis clinician and have done volunteer work with various LGBT groups and organizations, including The Rainbow Cafe in Carbondale, Illinois.
