About me

Hello and welcome! My name is Danita Duncan and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas. My counseling style is personable and inclusive. I work hard to provide a non-judgmental environment that fosters hope and healing. Respect and consideration are important qualities that I value and extend to my clients.
I have worked with clients from ages 3 to 73 with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, OCD, relationship issues, parenting concerns, women’s issues, social anxiety, identity issues, grief/loss and addiction problems. My additional training and focus on trauma related disorders has been beneficial and helped many clients understand the effects of trauma and heal from past physical, emotional, sexual and psychological abuse.

My work with domestic violence victims for over six years inspired me to attend Liberty University to earn a BS in Psychology with an emphasis in Crisis Counseling. I continued to work with women and children as a volunteer for a women’s shelter for several years while earning my MA in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. I also completed my internship at a level 1 trauma hospital as part of the Pastoral Care team. I have worked at a community outpatient facility which afforded me the opportunity to help individuals, couples, and families from a diverse population. I was recently honored to work at an inpatient facility for Veterans, active duty and first responders as a trauma therapist. My training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) was invaluable in working with these brave men and women to significantly reduce the devastating effects of combat and complex trauma issues.

It takes courage to reach out for help with the hope that change is possible. It would be my honor to support and encourage you in that process.

I look forward to working with you.

She's the best counselor here in betterhelp! I have tried 4 different counselors before her, and it was NOT good... I was about to give up and she was the last hope I had. She HELPED me FOR REAL!!!! She listens to me like she's my friend. She has empathy of my feelings and understands what I am saying. However, it does not mean that she agrees everything what I say. She tells me what I need to hear at the moments. She knows what I need. She feels what I feel. She lets me let everything out! It has been wonderful sessions with her, and I'm going to keep doing it

Danita Duncan has given me lots of tools to use along with resources to read or utilize. I was nervous about starting therapy again and with someone new but I have learned more with her than I did before! She is a wonderful listener and let's you say everything you need to but discusses it along the way. I initially started to tackle my anxiety/depression. She also introduced me to ART which I have seen a difference with in regards to previous trauma. I would highly recommend her!

Danita is such an empathetic soul. From day one, she allowed me to be in the driver’s seat, while she helps me navigate and provides directions along my journey towards wellness and peace. I feel confident and continue to feel both challenged and supported in my journey.
