About Me

Understanding, acceptance, vision and action are stepping stones toward growth. Having someone who is interested in forming a therapeutic bond to walk through those steps with you is a resource for courage and strength. It is my purpose to be a resource by providing a safe space that offers an atmosphere of respect, understanding, and exploration as we collaborate to develop and achieve your goals. I've found meaning in providing a therapeutic alliance to promoting change, growth and offering a pathway to healing for individuals and relationships.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Board Certified Counselor who is committed to fostering effective communication and healthy relationships for adults, adolescents, and families. I have specialized in children and family issues for four years and have developed an eclectic approach to helping others which incorporates a person-centered approach, mindfulness, cognitive behavior therapy and brief solution focused therapy.

I am a graduate of Troy University with an M.S. in Counseling and Psychology and a B.A. in Natural Science and Mathematics. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, parenting problems, life transitions, and ADHD. I look forward to working together to explore your strengths and maximizing them to help you reach your goals!

Written by M.A. on Oct 16, 2020 after counseling with Danya for 2 weeks on issues concerning stress, anxiety, family conflicts, trauma and abuse, and sleeping disorders

Danya is encouraging me and giving me positive feedback for what seems to me like baby steps but it feels good and keep me going. I feel safe with her and in good hands.
