About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Alaska. I have been working in the mental health field for 9 years and a Clinician for the past 3 years working with at risk youth and families . I have worked with individuals to help them with depression, anxiety, life transitions, parenting problems, career challenges, relationship dynamics with families and couples. I have worked with adults and children to address childhood trauma related to addictions, sexual, physical and emotional abuse, and loss of or separation from a loved one. I have also worked with individuals who experience Autism, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injuries. My undergraduate degree is in Human Services and my Master's Degree is in Counseling Psychology.

My counseling style is warm and interactive. I provide kind, compassionate and non-judgmental counseling. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion and I often take an eclectic approach to meet each individuals needs. My approach combines Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, humanistic, EMDR, and solution focused, and I integrate Gottman Interventions . I feel everyone needs someone to listen and to help them with what ever season of life or struggles they are going through. You are worth it !

Dara is a good listener. She respects where I am in my life and what my goals are, She is encouraging me to follow my dreams and I appreciate that. She points out my strengths. She's good at summarizing what she heard me say so that I can see it in writing. I am happy with her.
