Hello and welcome to Better Help! My name is Dr. Darius Cooper and please allow me to provide you my credentialing, education and experiences. I earned my Doctoral degree in Human Services with a specialization in Professional Counseling, a Master degree in Criminal Justice and my Bachelor degree in Sociology/Criminology. I have a Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language as well.
I am licensed as a Professional Counselor under Georgia’s State Board and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor under Utah’s State Board, as well I am a Nationally Certified Counselor and I am also approved as a Clinical Supervisor by the National Board for Certified Counselors. In addition, I am serving in several universities in variety of roles such as faculty and or leadership. My expertise in higher education is Counseling, Human Services, Addiction and Criminal Justice/Criminology.
My counseling models are Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focus, Reality and Person-Centered. I have a background in Gung Fu Wu-Su and other forms of martial arts and I believe in meditation and other forms of Wellness as a means of providing balance in a person life. I have extensive work in the Criminal Justice and Mental Health Field. Additionally, I am a culturally sensitive counselor due to my extensive travels and some partial living in Southeast Asia.
I am looking forward to working with you and remember if the only solution-tool you have is a hammer, then every problem in the world must be a nail. It is important to be proactive and having more tools allows us with additional options to solve our problems.
