About Me
To introduce myself, my name is Darrin Krenz and I live in the greater Minneapolis Minnesota metro area where I have been for most of my life. I have three adult children, enjoy time with my two cats, and appreciate the outdoors. I have a passion for backpacking/camping in the Rocky Mountains several times per year and have found this helps me find tranquility both mentally and spiritually.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor (LADC) in Minnesota with over 10 years of experience working as a therapist/counselor. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, career challenges, and ADHD. In addition,I have been a Drug and Alcohol Counselor in the State of MN for over 15 years, working with various alcohol, opioid, and stimulant difficulties. I currently work with Buprenorphine/Suboxone programming. I was also part of the Adjunct faculty at a local Minneapolis University for 6 years teaching in an Addiction Studies, Co-Occurring disorders, and Master Social Work programs. This unique experience offers the people I meet with in a therapeutic setting the liberal approach to each person’s individual needs.
My therapy style is warm, interactive, client centered, and liberal. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and believe in a person’s mental health and addiction struggles should not be stigmatized with labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, person centered and harm reduction modalities. I will our conversational dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
It takes courage to invite me into your life to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Darrin Krenz. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Darrin is patient and understanding. Its a little early to give much insight in a review, but I like him overall and he asks good questions.
I feel very lucky to have been matched with Mr. Krenz. He has helped me get through one of the worst periods in my life and continues to provide support to help me get back in control.
Darrin is a friendly, compassionate person and very intentional.
I’ve told people that Betterhelp is a great place to seek help to better you
Our first few sessions have been very helpful. I look forward to working with him going forward.
He is great
Darrin is amazing. Listens well, offers constructive advice, and he’s supportive.
I've had one session with Darrin so far and it was great. He completely understood my issues and has so much relevant experience. I think he's going to be a huge help!
Hi, my therapist, Darrin Krenz, just ghosted me. He even checked in a couple of days ago to verify our 11:45am session today, 3/19. I stressed about today, I planned around this- it’s important to me. That should be obvious to a licensed mental health professional? I messaged him, tried my phone, tried my laptop, and didn’t get a word back from him. I waited 30 minutes and then the session ENDED. Not a word. This was supposed my first session with him and my first with Better Help and it’s unacceptable. I need a complete refund immediately. Refund it, cancel the billing. I will NOT try Darrin again, I will NOT try someone else on your site.
Darrin has been great . Good listener . And gets back to my messages when he can . I look forward to continuing our sessions . Thank you
Darrin has helped me during an extremely transitory time in my life. I felt lost, unsure of where to turn and frustrated at the progress (or lack of it) that I've made so far in life and career. He helped me uncover the strength and direction within myself, to uncover my light. I would heartily recommend him for anyone who was as lost as I was and needs help being reminded just how strong you actually are (or can be).
Darrin’s willingness to not only offer sound advice, but offer a listening ear without judgement is something I truly value in my sessions with him. I feel like I can talk openly about anything and be seen as a person, not a “patient”. He helps guide me to the conclusions or realizations myself which helps me understand on a deeper level of how I think. Thank you, Darrin.
Darrin has been helping me through all sorts of problems I've been having issues with in my life and find ways that make sense to fix them.
I felt heard when explaining what I needed help with (relationship issues). I left the first session with several concrete action steps for working on communication with my partner. I also felt heard regarding what hasn't been helpful for me in communicating with a prior therapist.
Darrin is professional, caring, and a good listener. He is thoughtful and responsive.
I appreciate the flexibility in scheduling and I feel comfortable and connected with his history and wide variety of skills.
Darrin is a great listener and approaches my issues on a real level. He’s very easy to talk to and easy to trust.
He is really professional
