About me

Do you scroll through your social media and wonder why you aren’t living your “best life”? You might say, “why does it feel like everyone else has their sh*t together and here I am, struggling to 'adult' on a good day?" Do you feel like you’ve lost your chance to live the life you always thought you'd have? Or do you not know where or how to start? Maybe you’ve achieved success, but are drowning in keeping up with your own unrelenting standards. You're exhausted from performing and disappointed that you always have to miss out. You know there is more to life than your job, but you can't seem to find that work/life balance. That feeling of emptiness may consume you as life has become more about keeping up versus actually living.

No matter your circumstance, life just feels overwhelming and all you want is a break. Removing the barriers standing in your way may feel like an impossible task, especially when you're not sure where or how to start. Sometimes talking to someone can help discover the obstacles keeping you blocked. Sometimes all it takes is seeing your life through another lens. Talking about your problems with a therapist can help you break through your stuck points, discover different ways to see yourself and others, learn ways to manage your mood, redefine yourself, and find peace in everyday life.

Hello, my name is Dr. David Forstadt, PsyD, LPC, CASAC "Dr. Dave". I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years of experience. I offer psychotherapy services for adults using an eclectic, theoretical approach. I help people reinvent their lives, and thrive in a renewed sense of freedom from the barriers that have been holding them back. This means getting to know yourself in new and authentic ways, learning skills to manage anxiety and depression, reducing unhealthy behaviors like drugs and alcohol use, navigating successfully through changes in life, and increasing the quality of your relationships. I hear you and look forward to helping you find what you've been looking for.

I want to provide an outlet for individuals seeking therapy who are interested in a unique and non-traditional approach to self-development. I love helping people move to a place of potential, understanding, and empowerment. I have always been motivated to help others align with their personal sense of serenity. The moments where you can take a deep breath and feel like everything is as it should be. Those shared experiences are rewarding to me as a therapist and inspire me to help others.

My approaches are rooted in state-of-the-art, evidence-based practices, but align with interdisciplinary and alternative perspectives of wellness. That is a fancy way of saying I think outside the box to find ways to help you achieve wellness across all areas of life. I also love bringing humor into sessions as a source of building a therapeutic relationship with my clients while creating a safe and comfortable space for self-exploration. There is something amazing about being heard. Genuinely feeling like someone understands the impact of your experiences and circumstances. Much of the feedback I have received from my clients include this sense of feeling heard and validated. I am humbled and honored by this and feel it is an intricate part of the therapeutic process.
