All my work, which includes expertise in several therapeutic modalities, is strengths-based and values-grounded. We will move on a journey together through an exploration of what makes you unique, to include your core values, and will build all our progress on the strengths you inherently possess as an individual. Many therapists allow and encourage clients to continue to focus on their problems. While it is critical to address these issues--and validate them--at the beginning of our work together, my focus will be on helping people see what's going right in life, and to do more of what's already working in order to address what isn't.
My professional background is long and varied. Previously, I was an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army, and later a State Trooper, before ultimately discerning a call to become a psychotherapist and counselor educator. In addition to providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families, I am an active teacher and supervisor at the graduate level of counselor education, and maintain a line of research inquiry related to the experiences of combat veterans before, during, and after wartime service.

I’ve been putting off a review because I haven’t been sure if therapy has been helping me. It took me some time to figure out what I want to gain from it, or exactly which portion I’d like to seek help in, and David has been very, very patient throughout this process. Despite my ongoing confusion and reluctancy when it comes to my problems, David’s way of problem-solving step-by-step and compassionate approach to our discussions have proven to be very helpful in helping me put words to my feelings and thoughts, and also gain new insights into many of the decisions that I am making in life. I am immensely grateful towards him, and looking at what we have accomplished thus far, and am certainly hopeful that I can benefit from future sessions with him.
