About me

On a personal note I became a psychologist because I enjoy helping people learn and grow. I wrote an article which is an offshoot of a book written by Dale Evans about her son called “Is the Angel Unaware, Unaware.” It is about my Down syndrome brother who has impacted all my family’s lives in so many positive ways. I only hope to give back to those in need to the level that Kevin, my brother, so beautifully did for us.
Dr. David Koehn is a licensed psychologist in the State of Florida, NC and Wyoming and has been certified by the National Health Register in Psychology since 1981. He received his PhD from University of Notre Dame in 1974 focusing on experimental and clinical psychology. He completed his pre-doctoral and post-doctoral internships at Indiana Children’s Hospital in South Bend IN. These experiences helped him to build his diagnostic and treatment skills with developmental disabilities, rehabilitation, and emotional disorders. Dr. Koehn’s dissertation focused on interaction of the motivation and attention on the learning outcomes when comparing normal and mentally impaired individuals. Dr. David Koehn also has extensive experience providing school and industrial organizational psychology services. He has practiced across a broad array of settings: hospital, rehabilitation centers, outpatient centers, public and private schools, commercial industry, consulting firms, university, and private practices.

He has given me the tools and advice I have needed for a long time. And we have discovered things about me I did not know existed. And I look forward to more sessions with Dr. Koehn.

Dr. Koehn has a wide range of tools in his belt to help me deal with my racy and negative thoughts from the first session itself. I had passive suicidal thoughts when I first met him. I'm on the third week now and already am making desirable progress in my recovery plan from anxiety and social phobia, feeling optimistic about the future!
