About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in New Jersey with 9 years of experience. I have a vast amount of experience working in different settings which I believe allows me to relate well with a great deal of different individuals. It has been my pleasure to work with individuals that were experiencing distress due to some of the following: Bi-polar disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety, Emotions Management deficits, relationship issues, and substance abuse. This is just an extremely small sample of those who I have worked with and chances are if you are struggling I have been fortunate to have dealt with someone experiencing something similar in the past.

I would describe my counseling style as client-focused and emphatic. I honestly believe a great deal of the time we have the answers and just need a little direction on getting there which I am happy to assist in doing. My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. I have found that a combination of each serves the best traditionally for clients while obviously I still coordinate my approach to each client specifically.

I appreciate you taking the opportunity to read this. I check messages sent to me once or twice daily. I also have to have a balance between work and life. My availability is typically evenings (excluding Tuesday and Saturday) but I do offer extensive Sunday openings as well as openings once daily at around noon east standard time. I respect you taking the initial step in getting back to the, "best you" you can be. I look forward to hearing from you. At this moment I am exclusively seeing clients by live messaging as opposed to phone, and/or video.

He keeps it real and doesn’t sugar coat, he also likes to challenge you to think about things from multiple perspectives and tries to find ways to relate to you. He’s great I would definitely recommend him!

As someone who has had limited success with therapy in the past, Dave has been a true stand out. He listens but also offers action steps. He pushes but creates a safe space. Finally, he actively works with me on creating a roadmap to recovery.

David rocks. Simple as that. Not only is he a great therapist to speak to. He's a great person to speak to in general.

Written by J.O. on Apr 10, 2021 after therapy with David for 3 months on issues concerning depression, addictions, relationship issues, family conflicts, trauma and abuse, anger management, and coping with life changes

Amazing! David is relatable and meets you where you are, a great listener, and checks up on you just to see how you're holding up.

I've been working with Dave for only a short few weeks, but I already feel a good deal of relief. We're probably just at the beginning of our journey, but I feel miles ahead of where I was 2 weeks ago, at a really low point.

Dave has been generous with his time; he's been attentive, listened well, and helped me to not put myself second. We'll probably be talking for a while, and though it's just the first phase, it gives me hope.

I find Betterhelp to be a good use of money and time. I've learned that mental health is quite tenuous for a lot of us in 2021, during a pandemic, and finding help (that is covered by a plan) was extremely challenging. I took a chance on Betterhelp, and after being matched up with Dave, I am looking forward to continuing on with therapy -- something I could honestly never say when I tried counseling in earlier stages of my life.

His understanding and forward approach really helped me through things going on in my life. Great listener and provides insight to the answers you already know. Highly recommend.

Written by J.U. on Nov 23, 2020 after therapy with David for 2 weeks on issues concerning stress, anxiety, intimacy-related issues, parenting issues, self esteem, coping with life changes, coaching, and compassion fatigue

David is amazing. He really listens to what you're saying and tries to understand the situation as best as he can to give rational feedback that makes you feel understood and that you matter. These sessions not only help me understand little by little where I need to work on in my life, but after my first session I already felt more confidence in myself to get through the situation that I'm going through. He validates you in the most human way that people need out of life.

Written by J.O. on Nov 11, 2020 after therapy with David for 2 weeks on issues concerning depression, and stress, anxiety

David has been very understanding and level headed when he speaks to me. He gives me very practical and applicable advise and techniques on how to cope with my anxiety. My favorite part is that I feel like I'm talking to a friend and a professional at the same time. This allows me be to free when speaking to him and I don't feel like I hold back because of this reason.

David Martino is an exceptional therapist that has been able to overcome the glass walls I had surrounding me and once they came down, we were able to dive into the root of my issues. There are people who you may stumble across that can change the direction of your life; David is one of those people. Truly grateful.

It took 4 different counselors to finally have my situation addressed. David is very timely and attentive to everything I am experiencing, as well as non-judgmental.
