About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Austin and Round Rock, Texas, and am a father of three incredible teens. I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, and bring an international and multicultural perspective to my practice.

My experience enables me to offer effective individualized counseling. I work from a relational cultural framework and provide a safe space for you to be known. I will be there for you every step of your journey. My goal is to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life.

I completed my Masters’ Degree in Counseling at Texas State University and my Ph.D. at the University of Texas-San Antonio.

I specialize in:
• Sexual Abuse
• Spiritual Abuse
• LGBTQ issues
• EMDR
• Identity and Differentiation.
My practice and life are guided by the Bantu philosophy of "Ubuntu," which means:

"I am because we are."
"In being seen by you, I see myself."
"In being known by you, I know myself."
"Humanity in Community."

I believe that each of us has a deep-seated desire to know others and to be known by others. My goal is to create a safe space where we can explore, know, and understand our whole selves - even the parts that we are sometimes afraid to look at.

I am passionate about assisting others in removing shame, fear, loneliness, sadness, and guilt so that they manifest their authentic self. I have an affinity for those struggling with the integration of their spirituality and sexuality. Our time together is a safe place to explore religious abuse, sexuality, and trauma.

I work from a client-centered counseling perspective and approach the therapeutic relationship warmly and genuinely. I view most scenarios from a Relational Cultural Theory, Attachment, and Interpersonal Neurobiological perspective. I am open-minded, non-judgmental, and supportive. Our relationship is important to me because it sets the tone for our journey together creates a safe space for us to work together.

David is knowledgeable and compassionate. He understands trauma-informed care and goes above and beyond in accomodating massive time zone differences. He is affirming, queer-positive, and sympathetic to spiritual challenges. I highly recommend!

David has been patiently guiding me to take ownership of my life, to regain confidence in myself and to structure and build my goals. I really appreciate his guidance, advices and the reading material that he has provided me, since it allowed me to reflect by myself too, which I believe allows me to grow independence and confidence.

Mr.David Schlosz, is outstanding, in less than 3 months, we worked together and faced through difficult and personal problems. He's outstanding and very welcoming, I encourage anyone to select him as your counselor.

David is very kind, personable, empathetic and knows his stuff. He has helped me during a major trauma and other matters that have been extremely stressful. You can have open and frank discussions and he will not get offended. He has great insight. He ALWAYS wants the best for you even if it means leaving him. I've seen him since December 2019 and he is a treasure and if you've never had counseling David would definitely make you feel at peace and that it is a safe space where you can be 100% you and he will not judge you.

He is one of the best therapists I have ever had. He gives me ideas of the reasons behind my behavior. It helps a lot.

I’ve been working with David for a few months, and he’s been friendly and supportive since the first secession. I’m really happy and lucky to have met him. He listens and is easy to talk to, and he offers helpful advice and feedback. He both pushes me and offers a helping hand so that I overcome the challenges in my life. I can tell through our interactions that he has cares about my wellbeing and wants me to succeed.

David was excellent to work with! He listened attentively, provided useful guidance, and exuded a compassionate attitude. Even through a video session, which I was at first apprehensive about, I felt that I was truly being heard. David was kind and professional. I really enjoyed talking with him and felt that our session improved my perspective about my situation.
