Hello! My name is Davis and I have been a professional counselor for 12 years. My background and training include experience with addiction, chronic pain, depression, anxiety and family issues. My clients would describe me as warm, understanding, articulate and friendly. I firmly believe that every person needs professional support at some point in his or her life, and there is no shame in asking for that help. I have learned that as individuals, we may not have the answers to our problems, but when we ask another for help, something special happens.
My counseling style includes a patient-centered approach, along with a cognitive-behavioral elements. I also practice acceptance and reality therapy, values clarification (motivational interviewing) and solution-based remedies. I believe every successful client/counselor relationship develops a sense of safety and hope for the client.
My work experience began as a drug and alcohol counselor at Hazelden-Betty Ford Foundation. During that time, I also worked as a professional interventionist and as a writer covering addiction issues for various publications. Eventually I continued my training and received a second license as a mental health counselor. I became employed at a chronic pain clinic helping patients who struggled with opioid painkillers, or who needed coaching in individual pain coping skills. My counseling experience is diverse and varied, including work with both adult men and women, adolescents, couples and in group therapy settings.
I welcome the opportunity to meet and talk over your concerns. I am here to help.
