About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) through the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors. I am a Level-III Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor for the State of Oregon (CADC-III) and a Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM).. I have worked for many years as both a counselor and as a clinical supervisor/director providing services to those who are striving toward productive, meaningful lives and I am dedicated to the therapeutic process as it applies to individuals, their families and their communities. I believe it is important to have and to show empathy, care and genuineness and to help people in their personal journey of exploration. My philosophical approach is in line with person centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and solution focused brief therapy.

I have extensive training and experience working effectively with co-occurring disorders, substance use disorders, and suicide intervention; internet and digital technology related use problems, grief and loss, gender specific issues, identity issues, cognitive restructuring, trauma, equine therapy, and cultural diversity. My goal is to be of service. I believe myself to be intuitive and realistic in my approach with people. I am a motivator and natural teacher who is solution oriented and able to help others to draw on their own strengths, abilities and resources when facing life and the challenges within it.

I look forward to working with you.

I have been working with Dawn for over a year now. She has been incredibly helpful for me, and I feel lucky we were matched. She is an excellent listener, always gives great and thought provoking advice, and knows how to ask the right questions. She was gentle with me when I needed but was also able to push me (or nudge at times) to the places I needed to go.
She was great with checking in at the end of sessions to ensure I felt we were moving in the right direction and I was getting the kind of guidance I was seeking. She shared many different resources with me and I loved that she gave me work to do in between sessions so I could feel I was taking a more proactive step towards bettering my mental health. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone as an excellent therapist.

I began speaking with Dawn after selling my house, and crossing the country with my furry family, in search of our next adventure and new home. Leaving behind my friends and family, in the city I was born and raised in, was exciting but overwhelming. It was the beginning of a beautiful transformation of depth and growth, with Dawn’s guidance I was able to identify lifelong patterns and ways to care for myself in the way that I deserve. Her insights (and book recommendations!!) were so profound and enlightening. I cant say enough about this incredible professional. I truly believe that she was exactly who i needed at this moment in my life. I will forever be grateful to her and hope to continue to work with her in the future!! Thank you Dawn:)

Dawn is kind, insightful, and supportive. I enjoyed talking with her and felt comfortable being vulnerable in our sessions to get the help I needed.

I’ve done therapy for a number of years with different therapists, and I’ve connect with two. One in Seattle and the other being Dawn. We’ve dove into my situation head on and have discussed different situations and ways to speak kindly and firmly to others and to myself. She has been so nurturing in her practice and has made me feel safe throughout our sessions.
