Hello! I'm Dawn, a Clinical Social Worker in Vermont.
I offer to have collaborative discussions, using humor and practical applicability as cornerstones of our work in the hopes of making the process of creating positive life changes a little easier. My primary focus in my clinical work has been helping people with addiction issues, which has helped me understand that often times addiction stems from some kind of traumatic history, mental health struggle, or difficulty with distress tolerance. I help people understand the nature of their struggle, and work diligently to try and come up with solutions to help ease the pain. I am very much goal-oriented, and tend to focus on what is going on in the here-and-now in my work with folks.
One prevalent feature of having a background in Social Work is that I focus on resources and systems of support to supplement an individual's self-care. My primary modalities are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. I use a Strengths Based Perspective, capitalizing on what skills, supports and knowledge a person already has to help the person make positive changes towards the goal.
Additional areas of focus: LGBT, Relationship issues, Trauma and abuse, Grief, Intimacy-related issues, Eating disorders, Sleeping disorders, Career difficulties, Bipolar disorder, Coping with life changes, Compassion fatigue, Drug and Alcohol Addiction, Guilt and Shame, Isolation/Loneliness, Process addiction (porn, exercise, gambling), Self-Love, Sex Addiction
Clinical approaches: Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy

I've recently had the pleasure of working with the compassionate and kind Dawn, who truly went above and beyond to make me feel heard and understood. Throughout our sessions, Dawn demonstrated their deep understanding of my struggles and offered valuable insights and guidance. They never made me feel rushed or judged, and always took the time to listen to my thoughts and feelings with genuine care and concern.
The convenience of being able to have therapy sessions from the comfort of my own home was greatly appreciated, and the use of technology to connect with this therapist was seamless. Despite the lack of in-person contact, the connection we formed was just as strong and meaningful as it would have been in an office setting.
Dawn's warm and welcoming demeanor, combined with their expertise and compassionate nature, made for a truly transformative experience. I am grateful to have had the chance to work with such a caring and understanding therapist, and I highly recommend giving online sessions with them a try.

Dawn is a great listener and helped me discover that I was not the problem to be fixed. She really understands that validation and allowing you to talk through challenging issues, feelings and experiences is key for self awareness.
