Deanna Williams, LICSW
About me
Hello and welcome to BetterHelp! My name is Deanna, I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) which is just a very big way to say that I have a master's degree in social work, which I use to be a therapist! I am licensed in Minnesota by the Minnesota Board of Social Work with about 5 years of clinical experience in a number of settings including school-linked mental health, outpatient, crisis response and residential substance use disorder facilities.
My ideal client is goal focused and has as desire for increased ways of coping, understanding and reducing the intensity of their mental health symptoms. I have experience in helping clients of all ages with stress and anxiety, depression, personality disorders, mood disorders, addiction, trauma and abuse, & grief and loss. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment.
I find that most of my clients benefit from my combination of education on mental health symptoms, rapport and trust within the therapeutic relationship and my direct conversational approach. Within the therapeutic environment, it is more likely that I will ask you what thoughts or behaviors are supporting your negative emotions versus asking simply how you feel. I enjoy working with clients on identifying the primary areas that they want to regain control of in their lives and establishing realistic, action steps to progress towards their goals.
Taking that first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process!

Deanna helped me with some minor PTSD from my previous job as a State Trooper. I highly recommend her as she is an expert in what she does. I feel like I can move forward in life confidently with what I’ve learned from her.
