About me

*As you read therapist bios, please know that there will be someone who is a good fit for you. If it's not the first person you talk to, don't give up; it's worth it to make sure you're working with a counselor you connect with, and who understands you.*

A little about me...I have 19 years of experience working with children, families, and women of all ages, from teens to adults. I'm pretty easy-going, and I strive to meet people wherever they're at...to be authentic and real in my interactions. Life is hard, so let's talk about it and work through it together.

I approach the counseling process with empathy and respect: this may look like listening and sitting with you in painful emotions, or it may be asking questions and offering insight to enable healing and/or personal growth.

People seek counseling for many different reasons, and come with different needs, so the process and what it looks like will both vary. Fortunately, you don't have to know ahead of time exactly what you need, or even what your goals are, because those are things we can identify through our communication together. Sometimes it's important to understand how your past influences who you are, to identify underlying beliefs and how they impact your thoughts, your feelings, and the choices you make. Other times, counseling is more about acknowledging and accepting where things are right now, so that we can problem-solve together and help you move forward. Or it may simply be that you need an unbiased perspective to help you work through a specific issue.

I am a faith-based therapist, and able to bring the aspect of faith into the counseling process, but only if that is something you want. I will accept and support you, no matter what you believe, and I will help you to be the person you want to be. I'm not offended by different beliefs or religious values, and I am intentional about not forcing my faith on others.

Areas of experience and interest include coping with stress, depression, anxiety (including anxiety in children), life transitions, personal growth, parenting, aging, and communication in relationships of all kinds. I enjoy being a resource for parents who are struggling to understand their kids (whatever ages the kids may be).
