About Me

Hello. Thanks for considering my profile. I hope you feel that I can be of help to you.

Whatever your situation, please know that reaching out for help is a great first step in making the changes you would like to see in your life.

Let me tell you a bit about me. I have been a licensed psychologist since 2008. I have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and my doctoral research was on the process of therapy/counseling. I have worked with clients on a range of issues including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, abuse histories, challenging relationships, major life transitions, and grief and loss. I have also helped clients with self-confidence and social skills. My clinical work has been with both brief and longer term therapy.

My work is client-centered and client driven. I am here to help you with your life. Often clients come in with some initial distress. Simply being heard with unconditional regard can start to alleviate that distress. Mindfulness can also help us be grounded when thoughts are swirling or emotions feel too strong. Cognitive behavioral strategies are helpful in becoming aware of the relationship between thoughts, emotions and behaviors. This awareness can be the foundation for change. I won’t sugarcoat the reality that change is hard, but perspective and patience are keys to making change and sustaining it. Clients often wish for change in relationships. We can use the security and comfort of our relationship as a basis to explore other meaningful relationships. Together, we can look back at the past, around in the present, and forward to the future.

I believe that therapy or counseling is about working together. I am here to help, but it is your life we are working on, so your concerns will guide our work. I have seen clients make amazing changes in their lives, even when they start therapy feeling very confused and uncomfortable.

I hope that I am the person who can help you with the important work of improving your life. If, for any reason, you do not think we are a good fit, please keep looking to find someone who you think can help you. You deserve to feel better!
