Deborah Gallagher, BACP, NCPS
About me
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. I began working in counselling in 2014. Since then, I have helped clients with relationship issues, abuse, motivation, self-esteem, and confidence. I also have experience working with anxiety and depression. I have some experience working with the aftermath of domestic abuse through volunteering with a local charity.
I value learning about my clients. I believe that you are the expert on your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming life's challenges. I am here to support you in that process. We may find that small changes can have a big impact on your life and happiness.
My training in Integrative and Pluralistic Counselling means I include a range of theories, ideas, and tools in my practice, tailoring my approach to the needs of each unique client, and their situation and goals. We may work in the present, or explore your past, as suits the situation and your aims. What I know you will get is a compassionate, nonjudgemental, safe space, where I will be fully present with you, enabling you to talk freely in the knowledge that you are secure and supported.
My main aim is to ensure you are comfortable and feel safe to open up and share your story and your ambition with me so that we can enjoy a productive therapeutic relationship that allows you to achieve your goals.
I hope to meet with you soon and look forward to working with you.

Working with Debby has been nothing short of life-changing. She is incredibly kind, deeply empathetic, and has a calming presence that immediately puts me at ease. From our very first session, I felt seen, heard, and completely supported. I felt very anxious coming to therapy, and at the beginning I would only engage in live chat messages. However, Debby has been so lovely and supportive that I feel confident to have live video chats weekly. Her ability to listen is extraordinary. She picks up on the subtlest things and reflects them back in such a thoughtful, compassionate way.
I came to her struggling with self-esteem and the lingering effects of childhood trauma, and she is helping helped me navigate those deep, painful places with so much care and respect. She never rushes the process, always letting me move at my own pace. There is no judgment, only warmth and genuine understanding.
Her support has helped me begin to rebuild trust in myself and my own voice. I’ve started to grow more than I ever thought possible. I still have a little way to go, but with Debby I know I will get there:)

Deb is compassionate and understanding, she listens and gives me feedback on ways I can help myself. I feel comfortable sharing with her which I feel is important when talking to a professional you need to feel comfortable. Deb is patient and is always there on hand when messaging. Can’t thank her enough

Only met Deborah a couple of times but with her guidance I've learnt a little about myself I didn't dare admit to myself before. Hopefully Deborah will help me heal fully finally if it continues the way it has gone. I am sure it will.
