It takes courage to seek help. I am a firm believer that every person can benefit from self-reflection by developing more effective ways to cope with the difficult parts of life. I strive to create a collaborative therapeutic relationship with my clients. My approach to therapy is integrative and holistic. My passion for helping others led me toward obtaining my master’s in social work from Louisiana State University in 1996.
For one year I provided end stage renal disease counseling to Veterans and their families at the VA Medical Center in New Orleans. Following the VA, I worked for the State of Florida Mental Health Center as an intensive Case Manager where I was tasked with working specifically towards deinstitutionalization. This also involved the transition of dually diagnosed clients from the State Mental Hospital back into the community. I provided support to the patient and their families during this challenging transition. Once the deinstitutionalization program was successfully completed, I transitioned my focus to working with seniors and their families in long term care facilities.
My focus has been primarily providing individual and group therapy sessions. I have over 20 years of experience working with seniors and their families either in a nursing home setting or a private home. My goal is to meet clients where they are with empathy and compassion. I have provided therapeutic support for people facing various struggles, including anxiety, depression and the complexities of life as it relates to the aging process. It’s not just the senor who has difficulty with the aging process, it is also the caregiver. Work with me and I will help ease some of life’s challenges

Deeanna has been very helpful in giving me a variety of mindful meditation ideas, for both in-the-moment and after-the-fact coping. She’s given me wonderful perspective on many things I’m struggling with or even just curious about. She’s helped me begin my journey of controlling overwhelming thoughts and emotions and realizing that I am in control of my mind.
She has been my best therapist yet in only a few sessions. I’m allowed to speak on my blackness and my other anxiety’s freely. She’s also consistent and it doesn’t feel like random encounters when we speak. I need that
Deanna started working with me when I was pretty deep in anxiety still, so I was messaging her quite often, as I was not in a great place. She always got back to me quickly and offered encouragement, accountability and compassion. We have talked about what caused that major anxiety moment and are now working through some of the more base anxiety issues. I have learned a lot of helpful things that I will take into the future and am excited to continue working with her.
