As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the state of New Jersey, I have experience working with people with a broad range of issues from all walks of life. I have worked with people diagnosed with psychiatric conditions and/or substance use disorders in both inpatient and outpatient treatment settings, individuals involved in the criminal justice system, and in a therapeutic school with 7th-12th graders with behavioral and emotional challenges. I have found that my therapeutic approach is most effective in my work with individuals who struggle with breaking unhealthy patterns that continue to interfere with their lives (whether they are struggling with substance abuse, always ending up in unhealthy relationships, acting out in anger then later regretting it, chronically procrastinating, etc). Oftentimes, people who struggle with these kinds of unhealthy behaviors also struggle with issues of self-esteem, guilt, and shame, which are equally crucial for us to address in therapy.
My approach to therapy is based on the fundamental belief that there is usually a very good reason that is not your fault that you developed an unhelpful behavior or unhelpful way of thinking; AND, now that you are aware of the negative impact of this behavior and are in a space to address it, it is now within your control to take meaningful steps to address unlearning that behavior. Unlearning a behavior is very challenging, and you have probably made some attempts to address this on your own already. Just because the positive changes you attempted to make did not last, or maybe some did and some did not, does not mean you are incapable of making this change! It means you have been trying really hard and you’re just not done yet because whatever it is that you’re working on is really tough; seeking help now is just more evidence of your motivation to see this through. You have taken such an important step by seeking help, whether this is your first time in therapy or your fifth. In our work together, you can expect me to meet you where you are with compassion, and never judgment, to help you feel safe and understood, and to help hold you accountable to yourself.
I can interact with you via whatever means you feel most comfortable – message, phone, or video. I check messages a minimum of once per day, Monday-Friday. At minimum, I offer live sessions Mondays-Thursdays from 4pm-6pm. However, during the Summer months, I often have additional availability for live sessions.
I look forward to working with you!

Delia is awesome! I’ve reached so many milestones with her help!
Delia is the best therapist I’ve ever had. She always listens to me and gives me the best advice.
Delia is always thorough, engaged and insightful throughout our sessions. I noticed that I have been able to think in a way that is more rational. I feel heard and understood by Delia, even when I have struggled to express myself. I appreciate that she tailors therapy to my needs and values my input, rather than taking a general approach. I really have enjoyed working with her and have seen noticeable improvements in myself.
