Hello and thank you for stopping by to get to know me. My name Is Denise Davis and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I have 15 years of counseling experience. I have always known that I wanted to be a therapist because I love to help people reach their goals, and beyond! My role as your therapist is to help you find your way and to stand beside you through your journey. Whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety, abuse or any other problem, there can be a happy ending to your story. Or as I like to say, a new beginning of great things to come your way!
I attended Indiana Wesleyan University for my Master’s Degree and my major was Community Counseling. I attended Ball State University for my Bachelor’s Degree and my major was Social Work with a minor in Psychology. Throughout my years of experience, I have used several types of therapy approaches but the 2 that I like the best are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). When it is all said and done it might appear more eclectic where I may bring in other approaches depending on the situation, but CBT and DBT tend to work with most situations and I have seen the most success with these therapeutic styles.
My specialties include women’s issues, mood disorders, relationship issues and substance abuse. Most of my experience has been with adults, which is the area I feel most comfortable and that I can do my best work. I have worked in several different therapeutic environments including Community Mental Health, Correctional Facilities and some government programs. My greatest strength is listening. I will not be able to help you if I don’t really listen to what you are saying. When we have a session, whether it is live, texting, email, etc., that is your time. You will have my undivided attention because I am here for you! I want you to feel comfortable and I want you to know without a doubt that I care! I want to commend you for taking the first step of seeking out a therapist. This is typically the hardest part of counseling and you have finished that step! Congratulations!
I hope to hear from you soon!

Denise listens very well and understands my feelings.
Denise helps me to feel comfortable and at ease enough to share my experiences, emotions, reactions, and mental health goals with her. She also helps me to actually make progress with my goals with her multi-method approach. I am a HUGE fan of the worksheets she has provided for me! I feel confident that I’m in good hands with Denise and I’m excited to see how much progress I can make by working with her. This is the most promising therapy experience I’ve ever had and I’m glad I decided to give it a try!
Working with Denise for over a year now, she has helped me see things about myself that I need to change to build healthier relationships while also reminding me of how far I’ve come and always encouraging me to see the positive instead of just what needs to change.
She is very balanced in her approach to therapy. And I’m so glad I’ve been working with her this past year as I work on my life. And relationships. She’s made such a difference!
Denise is FANTASTIC! She listens. She advises. She helps you to get really deep into the ‘why’ of the issue. Highly recommend her!!
Denise is amazing! She has listened to all of my personal struggles and concerns with a nonjudgmental ear from the start and has given gentle guidance to help me make positive changes in the last few months of working with her. I can be very stubborn and resistant to doing the scary things but Denise never makes me feel like I’ve “failed.” :) She is one of the biggest cheerleaders I have. If something is happening I can write to Denise and she always gets back to me promptly. She goes above and beyond when she knows I need to talk and she has given me resources for the areas I most struggle with. I really don’t have enough good things to say about Denise! I so appreciate being able to work with her through BetterHelp!
Denise really cares and wants to help. She doesn’t judge you. She is fantastic.
She is so wonderful and incredibly helpful. I'm amazed at her ability to help me pin down and conquer what I'm working on. She has an arsenal of techniques that I can use if one doesn't work.
Denise has been a big help and seems to understand me really well!
Denise is a great listener and is very kind and compassionate! Even though we have only had 2 sessions since I started, it has been great and I know continuing counseling with her will benefit me greatly!
I appreciate Denise. I had a rare condition when I was pregnant. She had never heard of it and did research on it so that she can help me. I greatly appreciate the time she puts in to help me with everything.
Denise genuinely cares about her patients! She makes me feel like I'm being heard and her advice has worked well in my life.
Denise has been nothing but helpful, she did excellent with what she was given and I couldn't be anymore happy for her with how well she did.
Extremely insightful to my situation and also empathizes on my struggles that i need support with! Highly recommend
Denise was a very caring, patient, and understanding individual. Denise was very helpful at a couple very low points of anxiety I was experiencing.
I felt I could really connect with Denise on a level of trust that I had not had in a long time.
I would recommend Denise for anyone experiencing extreme anxiety, issues with depression, and difficulty with relationships.
She's diligent and helpful and a very good listener!
Densise understood I wasn’t very comfortable talking about how I felt. But very quickly after I told her why I needed her help, I began to feel lighter. She’s reliable and gives great advice and always allows ample time for you to get out what you need to feel okay from the session.
Well if she can get me to open up and talk she has got to be doing something right. Only regret that I waited as long as I did, lost a lot of happiness, sleep, time, and sanity trying things my way.
She helps me so much!
Denise has been very helpful at helping me dig deeper into my anxiety issues and blocks and triggers for emotional outbursts. I would highly recommend her to someone suffering from anxiety, boundary issues, depression, self-sabotaging blocks and plenty of other areas
Denise saved me at the lowest point in my life. I was deep in the throes of depression and anxiety over a family issue and she coached me through it with kindness, understanding and real life strategies to help me cope. I am stronger emotionally now and have learned a lot about myself as well as healthier ways to deal with certain situations. I highly recommend her for anyone who needs counseling of any kind. She was unbelievably responsive. Being able to express myself in real time via the portal and getting almost immediate feedback was the key to my recovery. I am forever in her debt for giving me coping skills that will apply to other situations the rest of my life. If I could afford it, I would stay with her just to maintain where I currently am. In the event of another crisis, I will most certainly try to find a way to once again pay for a subscription and enlist her help.
Simply put, she saved me and I am forever in her debt for that
Denise really takes in everything I'm saying and processes it very well so she can find ways to make me understand what I'm feeling or how to handle my thoughts, feelings, reactions. She's supportive, but real. She doesn't just provide her thoughts, she constructively has you work on areas she feels you need to acknowledge by sending exercises for you to complete. I have really enjoyed our thoughts and her way of thinking, she has helped me so far a great deal.
