I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Master's degree in Social Work. I am an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I work with clients of all ages, and using a warm, safe environment, assists my clients to identify their strengths, goals, and abilities to cope with and overcome their symptoms and discomforts.
I have worked with a diverse range of populations in a variety of settings including inpatient, outpatient, substance abuse and mental health agencies. My experience has been working with children and adolescent Emergency Mobile Psychiatric Services and adults in individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy. Through this work, I became well-versed in high risk assessments including the threshold for higher levels of care, and have experience with anxiety, depression, self-injurious behavior, grief, substance use disorders, and social and familial conflict. In addition to counseling, I have been an adjunct professor for over 10 years and teach introductory courses to beginner social work students.
I look forward to navigating life transitions as well as the overall quest for clarity and self-awareness. I specialize in helping clients cope with and overcome symptoms that are interrupting their daily lives. I utilize a strengths-based and person-centered approach to treatment recognizing that each individual has resources within themselves which, when fostered, will help them meet their treatment goals. I believe in the importance of a therapeutic relationship and work closely with my clients to help them feel empowered to make changes in their lives.
My hope is to provide the safety and insight you need to identify subversive patterns of thought and behavior and move toward a more functional, confident approach to life.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Denise DeBrady. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
She is honest and reassuring.
She is a great listener and very helpful in making you feel comfortable to open up she lets you come to your conclusion and helps guide you along but ultimately doesn’t it make you feel judged and does not tell you what to do. She is very sweet and kind he has a lot of patience to help you through learning a lesson even if it takes you 1 million times to go through it.
Denise has been very helpful in helping me see myself in a new way. She is very supportive and helps guides me towards having new and positive experiences. I appreciate her willingness to help me process my thoughts and feelings.
While going through a time in my life when I felt alone, Denise listened with compassion and understanding. She gave me solid direction on steps I should take in order to move forward. She also allowed me room to unload and was never judgmental and approached each session with understanding and a lightness I was not currently experiencing in my life. I [typically] left therapy feeling a little better about myself. Thank you for you time, patience and expertise!
I have really enjoyed my sessions with Denise. She listens well, and leaves no stone unturned. She has a genuine ear, which makes it feel like I have great support and guidance.
Denise has been a big help
Denise has been very helpful in teaching me to focus on what is important.
Although we've just started most of our counseling oh, it's my personal choice to do a by text because I communicate better that way and if clarity. With information. And that was my choice she has offered video chat, but I am not ready for that.
Denise is a fantastic listener who really takes the time to help you talk through your feelings
Denise is very kind, understanding and helpful. I am very happy with the services I receive from her.
Thank you Denise, I'm a better person because of you :D
Denise is a kind, warm, and compassionate individual. She listens attentively and provides useful insight to reduce suffering and promote healthy strategies. I only have had a few sessions with her but I feel open and cared about from a therapeutically.
Denise is the most compassionate and open therapist I've met with. She truly wants to find solutions and provides helpful advice. I would recommend her.
Denise is helpful and always tries to understand where you’re coming from. The advice she gave me were useful to real life applications and actually motivates me to do something.
Denise is absolutely amazing. She certainly has a complicated file with myself. Though I've never been through therapy before, she really makes the effort to understand me and my life and issues and has given me great direction and advice. I'm fucking struggling these days, and she really helps. I'll tell her what I won't tell my friends.
She’s wonderfully understanding and supportive in all the right ways. It’s taken me a while to work up the confidence to speak to someone and I’m so glad that it was Denise
I haven’t been on here for long, but Denise is the kindest person I could’ve asked for, she cares and she’s got a wonderful sense of humour, so the dark stuff just doesn’t seem as heavy, her expertise is very helpful and I’m so thankful for everything she’s done for me in this very short time.
I’ve had two sessions so far with Denise and I felt comfortable right away. We get along, she listens well, gives me great advice, and resources to help me out. She is honest and makes me realize the deeper truth to what I am going through. To have someone on the outside helps me understand better. I am so happy that she is helping me
Denise is encouraging, attentive and dedicated as a counselor. She strongly encourages me towards the road to recovery and I appreciate being under her care.
Denise is great. She is very personable and really skilled at her job. We uncovered big things in our very first session; things I tried to get to with my last therapist who couldn’t get there. I couldn’t have asked for a better therapist.
Denise is very compassionate, warm and she truly listens. I appreciate her wisdom and insight and that she does not rely only on a book model of counseling. Her holistic approach to real life situations, meeting me where I am has been a great help to me. I appreciate Denise and find working with her very helpful!
