Derek Lee, LMHC
About me
I am a licensed mental health counselor in Indiana nearing 10 years’ worth of professional experience. While working with clients, concerns addressed have included depression, anxiety, family dynamics, LGBTQ+, and religion/spirituality. I have frequently assisted children, teens, and families with processing past trauma and the impact on family relationships and communication.
When communicating, I tend to be curious and open, and I always seek to remain compassionate to others’ challenges and concerns. During treatment, I will frequently use a mixture of psychodynamic, existential, DBT, and CBT approaches. I find mindfulness to be quite useful and will incorporate it when clinically useful and/or relevant. Regardless, I will ensure that whatever I utilize will be based on the specific needs of the client.
I am thrilled to know that individuals are seeking out professionals to talk to. While this step might feel challenging, I hope that it will be fulfilling in the end!
