About me

Are you feeling stuck and that you're not living your best life? Trying to improve your family life or relational issues? Experiencing difficulties adjusting to life transitions or medical issues? Not able to cope with the racism and stress around you? Or just trying to discover yourself a bit better? I am here to collaborate with you and support you in helping you navigate complex life matters resulting in positive change!

My name is Dr. Devika Srivastava and I am a Licensed Psychologist. Being a psychologist to help support and help others achieve their goals is my life's passion. Growing up, I realized physical health was always discussed but not mental health. Also, the conceptualization of psychological treatment was often not culturally competent considering race, ethnicity, LGBTQIA+ issues, or worldview. I knew that to really support and help an individual, these factors must be integrated into treatment and psychologists must also serve as advocates. I wanted to make a space for people that needed help and felt that their voices were supported. My counseling style also displays those tenants by being warm, authentic, accepting, interpersonal, and collaborative.

In terms of my academic background, I am originally from Houston and received my B.S in Psychology from the University of Houston. For my graduate studies, I went to Columbia University for masters coursework and then Fordham University in New York City for my Ph.D. I also have significant public policy experience because I feel to really help my clients, I can help change for them on an individual level but also on a bigger systemic level. I have worked with many different populations of diverse adults, children, teens, and veterans. My practice has included the treatment of mood disorders, including depression and anxiety symptoms, life adjustments, health disorders (including chronic pain and medical issues), loss, bereavement, family conflict, racial and ethnic identity issues, sexual/physical/emotional abuse and trauma, second/third-generation American issues, intergenerational issues, bicultural issues, LGBTQIA+ issues, transitional issues, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, substance use, memory issues, sleep issues, parenting, geriatric issues, and substance use. I have worked in a variety of settings including college counseling centers, clinics, and hospitals (VA and public, and in psychiatric and medical inpatient units).

I have been trained in many therapeutic orientations and often operate from an eclectic orientation depending on what works for you based on your worldview, cultures, values, and issues. Orientations I regularly use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) , Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), interpersonal therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Feminist therapy, Multicultural Counseling therapy, mindfulness, biofeedback, psychodynamic therapy, object relations, humanistic, and extensional therapy. I provide individual, couples, and family therapy. I also have a significant amount of neuropsychological assessment issues, conducting evaluations on intelligence, ADHD, psychosis, learning disabilities, and dementia. I use only evidence-based treatment and implement those interventions to find what works for you to help you reach your goals!

If you're on this page, you are looking for your life to change in some way. Often people feel disempowered, scared, or have stigma to get support but it takes strength and self-love to reach out. I am here to help provide the encouragement, challenges, and skills that you need to make changes. My main goal is to help you identify your strengths to empower you. Sometimes it's hard to know we are strong, but our resilience is always there. I will provide you the support in a nurturing environment where you are not alone. I want to help you move forward in a way that helps you to envision and attain the growth and better life you want! Let's go on this journey together and make this happen!
