Diana Duran

About Me

I welcome you to my BetterHelp profile. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #96808) working in private practice in the beautiful city of Newport Beach, California. I possess a Master of Science degree in Counseling with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from the California State University, Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics and Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

The majority of my clinical training before becoming a licensed therapist was focused on working with at-risk populations, trauma survivors, and crisis management in both public agencies and private practice settings.

I have a deep love for helping people through the unlimited possibilities of human connection. My work focuses on helping people through guiding them in finding their own answers. I believe that everyone has this ability and the potential to meet their goals to ultimately achieve happiness and wholeness. I employ my interpersonal, theoretical, and applied skills to build conducive connections with individuals, couples, and families. My experience includes working with a variety of issues such as depression and mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and trauma. Some of my areas of focus are working with relationship difficulties, grief and loss, personal growth, career, life transitions, LGBTQ issues, self-esteem issues, healing from trauma, support for families of individuals with special needs, and behavioral problems in children and teens. Along with my professional experience, my ability to be empathic, open-minded, and culturally sensitive allows me to make meaningful connections.

Aside of what I do as my career of choice, I enjoy hanging out with friends and family. I also tend to be a mover and enjoy relaxing walks, stretching exercises, and an unstructured combination of weight lifting and some cardio.

So far, Diana has been very helpful and insightful in the couple of sessions that we have had. I wish to continue improving my health with her.

In the short few weeks I’ve been working with Diana, I am seeing great progress. With her guidance I have had two major epiphanies, and I am very appreciative of her relaxed yet professional style. I’ve had several therapists over the years, so I know what works for me and what doesn’t. I was looking for immediate tools and relevant feedback to deal with a current issue of effective communication, and that is exactly what I am receiving from Diana. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to relate well with an online format, but it couldn’t be easier. And I believe with the combination of online chats and over the phone discussions, we are able to tackle the problem in the most effective way. Not to mention, the greater bang for your buck as opposed to conventional face to face therapy. I have already referred two family members, that is how pleased I am. Diana is a great fit for me as a therapist, and I know I am much better already from having talked with her.

Diana has been a great help to me so far. I feel like I'm making some progress and she is very supportive. I'm excited to learn more about how she can help as well as see more of my own progress with the skills she's teaching me.

I am so glad that I was matched with Diana! She is giving me the right support to work through my issues in a positive and constructive way. She really takes into account who I am as an individual in helping me move forward. I would highly recommend her.

Diana is incredible. She is nothing like the other therapists I have dealt with or have heard about. She shoots straight and keeps it real. You will actually get answers and help with strategies to start feeling better. Personally I am dealing with some major stress, self-esteem, and relationship trauma and it was really having a negative affect on my life. Within a handful of sessions she has got me to where I am feeling just south of normal again and I am smiling more than crying and that happened today. Diana has really been a serious game changer for me and I sincerely appreciate her help. I recommend her and I have told more than a few people about this platform and told them to see about getting Diana Duran as their therapist.
