With a warm welcome I invite you into a glimpse of my soul. I have been serving families in Broward County, Florida as a counselor since 1983 starting as a peer counselor at Crystal Lake Middle School when at the tender age of 12 I experienced the death of a peer due to drowning at Crystal Lake. As a counselor for my peers, the training I received even then by my teacher started me on a life long calling to become the most effective therapist for any soul that I have the honor to serve. Growing up as a former high risk youth raised by a single immigrant mother and surviving numerous difficulties some may find themselves in, I utilize my immense experience part time as a Crisis Intervention Counselor at Ascend Academy Charter High School in Broward County, FL while serving clients holistically and therapeutically at Through the Valley Therapy and here at Better Help :)
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (MH18034) with a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from Florida Atlantic University with a certification in Women's Studies, and an Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Palm Beach State College. For numerous years as I worked on becoming license I worked as a preschool teacher and in the film industry as an actress/producer. I am also well versed in functional/holistic care understanding the importance of psychoeducation in order to empower my client to exercise their mind, body and soul!
My goal is to help you take the burden of carrying boulders on your shoulders that can cause bitterness and turn them into stepping stones to create betterness within your soul! I meet you where you are, pray for wisdom, discernment and guidance to create a unique plan just for you. I am just the vessel that you will lean on while you do the hard work of GROWING through what you are going through!
