About me

Ready to work with a compassionate, engaging, and solution-focused counselor who has decades of clinical experience?
Today is a great day to start changing your life and realizing your dreams. Whether you want to address issues that have been holding you back or move forward in embracing a new and better lifestyle, today is a great day to start. My name is Dr. Donna Leigh Bliss and I welcome the opportunity to talk with you about how we can work together to help you have a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Is it really possible to feel better about yourself and achieve your goals?
The answer is a resounding yes. I have worked as a clinical social worker for almost 30 years. Most of my experience has involved working in the addictions and mental health fields including working with individuals in recovery, persons that came from dysfunctional families, sexual abuse survivors, and couples. I have directed addiction treatment programs and have helped many people find a path to well-being and recovery, no matter how challenging their circumstances.

Can I help you?
I am currently licensed as a clinical social worker in Maryland, District of Columbia, Georgia, and Colorado. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including addictions to alcohol, drugs, smoking, and sex, family of origin issues, depression, anxiety, career challenges, and sexual abuse backgrounds. I have seen people make dramatic positive changes in their lives as they finally addressed problems that had been holding them back. I believe everyone has the potential to change their lives for the better no matter how difficult their circumstances.

How I work with clients.
My counseling style is engaging and solution-focused. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and psychodynamic counseling. Rather than just talk about problems, I work with my clients to address issues and make positive changes in their lives.

Take the next step.
If you have read my profile to this point, why don’t you take the next step and reach out to me. I would welcome the opportunity to work with you to achieve your goals.

My Affirmation: I celebrate diversity in all its forms and welcome clients regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, political belief, religion, immigration status, and mental or physical ability.

Dr. Bliss is someone who is able to find the root of your problem and be there for you but forces you to confront it. She tells you like it is and doesn't let you get away from focusing on that issue. Its refreshing and very effective. She deserves so much of the credit for how my life improved during a time of crisis!
