First off, congratulations on taking this next step forward! If you’re here, it’s probably not because you’re feeling great about life at the moment. In fact, you might be feeling pretty miserable. The good news is that we can make that misery work for you! (It ought to be good for something, right?)
Strangely enough, emotional pain is often what forces us to finally take steps in dealing with our problems, whatever they might be. Many of us stay stuck in our problems--and therefore our pain--far, far longer than we need to. Change is hard. Maybe it’s too scary to face what needs to be done. Maybe you’re already exhausted from dealing with the day-to-day struggles in your life. Or maybe you just don’t know what steps to take.
I’m here to help.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan with over twenty years of experience working with individuals and families, so I have a lot of training and expertise to draw on when tackling your problem. You won’t be alone!
My theoretical orientation is 1) integrative, which means I customize my approach to your specific concerns, and 2) collaborative, which means we’re a team. I believe you are the expert of your life (although you may not feel like it right now!) but I will “walk” alongside of you during this difficult journey toward answers. I am trained in EMDR, Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and more. I also provide Christian Counseling for those who request that approach. I use gentle humor, non-judgmental and compassionate communication, and straightforward problem-solving to help you meet your goals.
As for my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my family--both immediate and extended. I’m an involved leader in my church, and I love to read and write. In fact, I’m a published author of several mystery series, which means I can spend an afternoon reading and call it “research.”
My favorite quote is by Oscar Wilde and it connects both aspects of my life. He said, “The final mystery is oneself.” I want to help you solve your mystery. I hope you’re ready to give this a try! I’m excited to work with you. Let’s get started.
