About me

Welcome! I am a Licensed Master Social Worker in the state of Michigan. I earned my Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Michigan. To support my social work background and experience, I also have Master Degrees in Correctional Science and Educational Leadership. I have over 40 years of experience working with people helping them to effect change in their lives. Over a third of that time has been spent providing therapy to a wide variety of individuals.

I have worked with individuals, both children, down to age 5, and adults who range from severely mentally ill to having minor adjustment problems. I also have many years of experience doing crisis intervention work with people having acute issues. I have worked extensively with people suffering from depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance abuse issues, relationship problems, and schizophrenia. I have many years of experience working with clients in a community mental health center, as well as with individuals on probation. I have also spent a number of years working with children in the educational setting and consider myself quite skillful in assisting parents who have children suffering with ADD and ADHD.

Life is full of obstacles and challenges and can often lead to anxiety, depression and many other emotional issues that are often very painful --- but many times are easily solved for those who are willing to seek help. Using primarily a Cognitive Behavior and Supportive Therapy approach, I make sure to maintain a kind, warm, judgement-free and positive environment for all my clients. Typically, the client has the solution within him / herself, often utilizing his / her own strengths to feel better. It’s just a matter of a person on the outside supporting, actively listening, asking the right questions, and providing the right feedback in order for the client to once again restore happiness and satisfaction to his / her life.
