Hello, I’m Dustin. You did the right thing asking for help! Shame or fear or a hundred other things keep most people from taking the step you did. It takes a lot of courage and I commend you for that. I work with folks who are suffering in many ways, but I am uniquely qualified to help people who struggle with drug and alcohol addiction. My expertise is not only from a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, six years’ experience practicing professional counseling, and specialized training in addiction treatment, but from my own 9 years in recovery. I have helped many and, if you will allow me, I will bend over backwards to help you too.
The great therapist Carl Rogers said, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” I have found this to be true. I believe that if a person is afforded a therapeutic environment that is warm, caring, understanding, respectful, and confidential; and they can find the right motivation, recovery will occur.
We will work together to make sense of things and overcome the obstacles in your life. Oftentimes, my clients can work through their issues with me serving as simply a sounding board. Other times, they request specific advice. I am happy to oblige either way. You might talk with me more often when we begin (multiple times per week), and later, as you progress towards your goals, we would have contacts less often, tapering down until you no longer feel you need counseling.
