About Me

I was a practicing counselor and psychotherapist since 1998, as a professional social worker. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults and elders. I have worked with a wide array of individuals, including those who have experienced anxiety and depression as a result of trauma, addiction, loss, sudden change in health status, or victimization. I served previously as a professor of social work as well as a field instructor.

I am of mixed heritage, and understand that the world view of an individual is not necessarily generalized to a stereotype of an ethnic or religious group or generation. My approach overall is multimodal, integrating the overall framework of the cognitive-behavioral therapy, with a person centered manner. I also provide trauma informed psychotherapy as well as spiritually integrated psychotherapy, drawing from one's own traditions, attitudes, values and beliefs. Though I am practical, I have been trained in multiple speciality techniques, including Hypnosis, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Narrative Therapy, Structural Family Therapy and Satir Model Family Systems Therapy.

I view change as an ongoing process, and though external change may be difficult, internal change is always possible - and will reverberate change all through your life and others whom one influences.
