Elise Jacobson

About Me

Hello! My name is Elise and I have a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Brandeis and a Master’s in Social Work from Yeshiva’s Wurzweiler School. I’ve been an independently licensed social worker for over 25 years.

During this time I’ve helped many people seeking support for all sorts of reasons. Maybe you are a single parent or your family lives far away. Or you are facing midlife challenges and want the chance to get more from your life. I also work with young adults striving to deepen their connection with friends and family and looking to choose meaningful work and partners. Some struggle to balance their own needs with their children, home and work lives.

Some of my clients struggle with anxiety, depression, disabilities or difficult life circumstances. Regardless of your age and circumstances I use a person centered approach to care, where I listen and ask you questions to help you find words for your circumstances. I have psychodynamic and family systems frameworks that I draw from as well as practical tools to offer you in our work.

You will find my approach warm, insightful as well as practical gleaned from my own 17 years as a parent and 27 years as a social worker. Please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Elise is kind, thoughtful, wise and professional. We have a general plan of what we are working towards, though Elise is flexible as crises have come up and willing to redirect our work to deal with whatever is causing my stress at the moment. She follows up our weekly conversations with messages during the week to check in and see how I’m doing.

I’ve enjoyed building a supportive relationship with Elise and strongly rely on her as one of the foundations in maintaining my mental health and well being.

Elise does a really great job of listening to my concerns and validating them. She truly understands what I'm trying to say. Also, she gives me things to think about that I hadn't thought about. She's very understanding and responds to me in a very timely manner!
