About me

Hello,
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California (LMFT) and I have been working in the counseling field since 2010. I have experience conducting individual and group therapy, in-office and online, both residential and with clients in a day treatment setting. I have worked with clients presenting with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, severe mental illness and a wide range of challenges including borderline personality disorder, substance abuse, personal growth, women's issues, trauma, sexual abuse, gender issues, career challenges, grief and loss, adjustment issues, domestic violence and crisis.

I mostly tend to draw from dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), healing the body/mind connection and person-centered approaches when in a therapeutic relationship with my clients. This means I use radical acceptance to meet what the client brings to therapy and serve as a catalyst for their personal process of growth and self-discovery. I can teach skills of mindfulness and more to assist clients their personal healing journey.

In my work with clients I use some leading psychological modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing and Psychodynamic approaches.

My Educational Credentials include:
Licensed by State of California, Board of Behavioral Sciences
Naropa University Masters of Arts Contemplative Psychotherapy
Georgia College and State University Masters of Business Administration
Beck Institute, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Training
Qigong teacher for over 27 years

I feel honored to be a facilitator for growth and change in the life of my clients. I offer a safe place to voice concerns and difficulties and respect for the client's own healing process as they move to a place of increased self-acceptance and strength. I support clients as they move toward their goals and dreams to live the life they wish for.

For my professional growth I attend trainings, keep up to date with ethical and legal guidelines in the field and continuously study new approaches and related issues.

I look forward to working with you!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Elizabeth Congo. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

I cant thank Elizabeth enough for the support she has provided me the last two months. I have had a very positive experience with Elizabeth. She is a great listener and has a great way of reassuring you that what has happened or what you are going through is normal and that your reactions be it happy, sad or angry is a part of the process. When things got too much she was able to bring a sense of calm by helping you come back to the present with some meditation. Elizabeth has a remarkable way of making you feel heard. Her memory for names and previous issues that you confided to her makes you feel like 'wow she really listens to me'. She is very warm and kind natured and I am so blessed I was matched with her. I am so grateful for all the help she has provided me and her supportive check-in messages in between sessions. Thanks a million, Elizabeth you are one in a million.

Elizabeth is kind, thorough and professional in her work and in her interactions. I feel better after our sessions, she helps me understand myself better and provides me with different ways to tackle my concerns. She also helped me accept some things I thought were "wrong" are actually normal for me and that I am entitled to feel what I feel. Overall, I'm very happy with the support she provided and would recommend her to anyone who would listen.
