Hello! I have been a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Vermont for the past 8 years. I graduated from Antioch University New England in 2013. I have experience in working in an inpatient setting, residential setting, community mental health and in a school setting. I am constantly humbled by the work I do with individuals and in awe of the human experience. Individuals are doing the best they can with what they have and sometimes need some extra help. I strive to build a trusting relationship in taking the courageous step of engaging in therapy, supporting individuals to be the best version of themselves and creating a life that aligns with who they want to be and how they want to interact in the world. I have worked with individuals with a wide range of challenges but primarily issues related to depression, anxiety, and trauma.
I approach therapy from a strengths-based and client-centered framework. People are the experts on themselves and I can weave in education and skills to help people work on identifying and reframing unhelpful thoughts, improving relational patterns with themselves and others and working through painful emotions. I see therapy as a balance of validating who we are and also promoting change in these areas when it is causing harm. My experience is that therapy is typically most effective when we are able to collaborate on specific goals and determine together when you have met them. I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) based skills. I am working on continuing to familiarize myself with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to better utilize this modality.
I appreciate you taking the time to read my bio and if you connect with me I am happy to consult to see if my approach seems like the best fit for you and where you are at. My current availability for live sessions is Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.
