About me

My name is Elizabeth Ivey, but I go by Liz. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in domestic violence, sexual assault, trauma, anxiety, depression, teens, and parenting skills. I graduated with my bachelors (2013) and a masters in Clinical and Counseling Psychology (2015) from Midwestern State University. I volunteered and worked for many years at a local shelter helping people find and rebuild themselves.

I use a person-centered and eclectic approach in sessions; meaning meeting a client where the are and tailoring the approach to meet their individual needs. To reach these needs I primarily use evidence based techniques including humanistic, cognitive-processing therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused counseling (a.k.a. asking a lot of questions and insisting on self exploration). I believe in working with the client to achieve their goals moving at a speed that works for them. Just as we all learn to read at our own pace, we also learn how to fight and deal with our inner struggles the same way. My mission is to empower those I work with in a supportive and motivated way.

I often tell my clients “This is your journey, you know where you want to go, but it is useful to have a tour guide pointing things out along the way.” and that’s my job.

Elizabeth Ivey is a kind, patient, and well informed therapist who provides a welcoming and warm environment for discussions on a variety of topics. She presents unbiased and evidence based suggestions and allows her clients to lead the conversations, providing feedback or recommendations as they may be needed. I find her really encouraging to talk to and extremely helpful, particularly at times when I just feel stuck. I am confident in her abilities as a therapist and plan to continue working with her in the future.
