About Me

My name is Dr. Elizabeth Nyang. I have a masters degree in counseling from Seaton Hall University and a doctorate degree in counseling psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology. I work with clients (adults and adolescents) that have issues with mental health and/ life issues. I accept clients with depression, anxiety, problems at work, problems within the family, mood disorders, and adjustment issues. I use a cognitive behavioral approach and Gestalt techniques integrated with meditation and tai chi to help clients gain insight into the root causes of their problems or parenting issues and reduce stress.

My communication style is relaxed, honest, caring and factual. When working with clients, I find that they appreciate honesty and my being able to listen with respect and without judgement. My personal acknowledgement that I am not perfect allows me to be able to form a genuine relationship with my clients by accepting them where they are in life.

I started using meditation ten years ago and began practicing Tai Chi nine years ago. Today, I integrate meditation and Tai Chi into my therapy sessions. Some of my clients enjoy doing seated tai chi movements during online counseling. Water aerobics is my passion, and I try to take a water aerobics class three times a week. After water aerobics, I enjoy going for a short swim. Exercise is how I add balance to my life. We will work together to help you find ways to resolve issues and add balance to your life. I am looking forward to working with you.

I'm not the best with written words at times its hard for me to express how I feel. I can say that shes a fantastic doctor and has been a supportive rock in my life helping me not only feel validated, but able to express my anxiety, frustrations and depression in a safe and considerate space. Shes been very helpful at guiding my own inner voice back to a place of peace.

I've had 1 video session with Dr. Nyang but she was very attentive and listened to everything I explained that I was going through. She was very compassionate and after our session gave me some questions to go over with regard to what I'm going through which really meant a lot to me.
She seems very sympathetic to what I'm going through and I'm looking forward to more therapy sessions with her.

Dr. Nyang's counseling style was just what I needed. Her gentle and calm spirit was so comforting and reassuring in times when I felt that I was completely falling apart and did not know what to do. I love that Elizabeth really incorporates meditation and tai chi into the practice. For someone as stressed out as I am it truly helps. She suggests amazing extra aids and always responds within a day. I also love the articles she sends, always has so much information that pertains to exactly what I am struggling with!

I enjoy my time with Dr. Nyang. I feel like she understands my needs and that she also tells me what I need to hear versus what I want to hear. She's very honest in her responses. I love how she sends me articles for each week regarding meditation, anxiety, and journaling. She helped me realize that my relationship with my ex was extremely toxic and abusive and that the best thing I did for myself was finding the strength to leave and not look back. She also had me do an exercise where I listed what my wants and expectations would be in my future relationship and how to set healthy boundaries for the next one. I would definitely recommend Dr. Nyang to other people seeking counseling.

She responds to me in a timely manner. She shares articles with me weekly that really make me think and learn about myself by viewing other people's situation. She also sends me plenty of links to helpful resources to expand my understanding of self-love which I am grateful for. I'm learning a lot about myself so I can better myself and look forward to continuing to work with her.

Dr. Nyang is compassionate and listens well, she also has good advice. I'm leaving because the format of primarily text-based counseling is a poor fit for me, but Dr. Nyang herself is a wonderful counselor and I recommend her should your needs fit.
