Hi! My name is Ellen Johnson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I specialize in young adults and adults who are living with depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders as well as those who have endured trauma and other life experiences. I have worked with clients from ages 5 to 102, and have experience in various clinical settings over the last 5 years. My educational background includes a bachelors degree from Auburn University at Montgomery and a masters degree from Alabama State University.
My counseling approach employs an integrated or eclectic approach to include several interventions that are specific for each individuals needs. I utilize CBT therapy as well as person centered and solution focused, however, that is not inclusive of all counseling approaches I enjoy working with.
I believe I can help because I have experienced life in many ways. I have a unique perspective and approach on identity development and confidence due to my racial background, cultural experiences from growing up as a military child, and different traumatic encounters. I have turned my life experiences into an avenue that allows me to assist my clients and counsel from a genuine empathetic stance.

Ellen Johnson is an amazing counselor, she is thoughtful, kind and gave great insight into my struggles. She really helped me to think through my issues and cut right to the heart of my problems. I don't know if this makes sense, but with Ellen, I really felt that she helped me to build a framework that I could heal and also progress in. At this point in my journey, I felt that I really needed a strong structure and processes to take with me forward into my everyday life, and Ellen provided that.

Ellen is fantastic. She’s very helpful, understanding and knowledgeable. She’s also really nice and is well practiced.
Ellen is great at listening and providing actionable advice.
I had never done therapy before and I was kind of scared. Then I met Ellen and we clicked right away.
She is extremely supportive and understanding. Moreover, she has a way of making questions that I find phenomenal. Whenever I am in doubt she lets me reach my own conclusions by asking the right things, questions that sometimes I am afraid to ask myself, but that are the ones I need to ask in order to make it through my problems.
