About me

Hi I'm Emily. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social worker with over 15 years of experience working with individuals of all ages to feel better about themselves and their lives. I have treated individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, family conflict, parenting issues, eating disorders and substance use disorders. I believe that good mental health is the foundation for a life well lived. We can explore where you feel stuck and together we can find a way forward.

My counseling style is kind, authentic and supportive. It is important to me that you feel heard and respected. I have extensive training in trauma informed approaches but use other modalities of care (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DiaIectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness & others) depending on the challenge. There is no one size fits all method. I will tailor our work together to meet your unique and special needs. I am confident that our conversations will be transformative and helpful. My schedule can fluctuate so please confirm availability with me before scheduling your session.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Emily is wonderful; she really listens to you, sees patterns that you're not always aware of. She's compassionate and hopeful and real. I feel like I've made a lot of progress in the short time we've been meeting.

Although I had limited time with Ms. Colonna, I had a great time in having conversations with her where I felt heard. She is very committed in listening and providing guidance and advice when I felt stuck. She’s also very kind and supportive especially when I need a connection or something to reference to! I’m sure you will enjoy your time with her! She’s an amazing person and awesome in her job! Thank you Ms. Colonna!

I talk to my friends often about our therapists - and my friends are always stunned at how incredibly kind, supportive, and smart my therapist is. Emily offers more than just a stable and consistent grounding of advice & comfort - Emily offers practical advice. I feel so incredibly thankful to have found Emily.

This is my first experiencing with counseling, and Emily has been absolutely incredible with helping me feel comfortable as well as providing insight and helpful techniques. I have been using the grounding techniques she's shown me, and I've found them very helpful in managing my anxiety. She's also easy to talk to, which makes talking about personal topics much more enjoyable! I highly recommend Emily, especially if you're new to counseling and feeling a little unsure about trying it out.
