Hello! I am a LICSW, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, and have been providing therapeutic services and support to Minnesota children, teens, adults and families for more than 10 years. I have extensive experience working in both the school and outpatient settings. I am passionate about supporting the healthy development of children and teens as well as supporting the parents and guardians raising them. My professional experiences have allowed me the opportunity to work extensively with children, teens, young adults as well as couples and families who are struggling with issues related to anxiety, depression, social/peer issues, difficulty managing emotions, parent/child conflict and family system problems. I embrace solution focused interventions and have strong skills in the areas of assessment, productive communication and problem solving as well as conflict resolution. I most often utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy interventions in my sessions with clients.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Emily Melander. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Emily is an excellent therapist. She understands me and offers good suggestions and insights. She has a great sense of appropriate humor. She lets me cry when I need to cry and we laugh often. She gives 110 % to her work. She also lets me see her human side. Emily is the kind of person that under other circumstances I would like to have as a colleague and a friend.

Emily has been an amazing source of encouragement! She gives me things to think about, work on, and homework/tasks to do during the week to help me move forward - so I can heal and grow! Which is exactly why I was seeking help! (And PS I requested to be challenged with actionable tasks between sessions and she listened to that desire!) So thankful to have such an and amazing support in my corner.

Before starting BetterHelp I struggled to find a therapist that I connected with. I was amazed at the ease with which they matched me with Emily. I have never felt so comfortable and confident in my therapy journey since starting with Emily.
