About me

Well hello there! I am so glad that you decided to consider on-line counseling and are considering giving BetterHelp a chance to assist you. Life is wonderful, but it is full of challenges. I am here to help you on your journey. Together, I'd like to empower you to view yourself, your life experiences and the world you live in with a new, more strength-focused, positive lens. It takes a wise person to seek out counseling support in getting the life they want. I want to help you get there. Here is a little about me and how I plan to support you:

I obtained a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, GA in 2002. I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2003. Since that time I have gained an enormous amount of clinical experience in many settings. I have worked in outpatient community mental health centers, in-patient substance abuse/mental health treatment centers, and in state prisons. I specialize in providing Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have found these models of therapy to be highly effective in promoting positive change.

My therapeutic style involves helping you to arrive at insight, strategies, and tools that you can begin using immediately to make positive change in your life. When and where appropriate in the therapy process I assign homework assignments designed to assist you in applying new therapeutic interventions to your daily pattern of interaction and communication. We will discuss the progress/lack there-of during subsequent sessions and will, together work toward implementing positive changes in thinking, feeling and behaving. Most importantly, we are going to make sure we are making progress on goals that you have for yourself. I will be there to guide you, encourage you, and empower you every step of the way so that, eventually you will be confident and competent enough to continue the process independently.
