About me

I have a passion for working with those that struggle with addictions and/or substance use needs. I also have experience and enjoy working with teens and young adults as they navigate their identities, and meaning in life. My Master's in Counseling Education had an Addictions emphasis, and I have primarily worked in substance use outpatient settings, as well as in community mental health. I also have trainings in LGBTQ+ population needs, marginalized community individuals needs, DBT, Gestalt Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I believe in inclusive care for people of all shapes, sizes, colors, ethnicities, and those with disabilities. Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Emily (She/Her) Mortensen. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

It’s hard to find someone you feel you connect to- especially through online services- but Emily does that 1000 times over. I feel very heard and very supported through our sessions and she has more than met any expectations I had. She obviously loves what she does and knows her stuff but in a way that’s very appropriate and approachable from anyone’s point of view. I cant recommend her more and I am very happy I was matched to her via Betterhelp’s compatibility questions.

I feel so fortunate to have been matched with Emily! She is so kind and understanding and I felt so heard while working with her. She's given me the tools I need to manage my mental health on my own. I highly, highly recommend Emily!

Emily is a really wonderful therapist to work with. She immediately set me at ease and helped me identify my goals and work through the sources of the pressures I've been feeling. I appreciate her way of working with me which I think helps me get the space I need to process my emotions, while still guiding me through different techniques and giving me resources from a professional standpoint. I would definitely recommend Emily to anyone looking for someone help them build their confidence and address the emotions they're handling in a productive manner and truly attentive care.
