Emily Nelson, LPCC
About me
I am licensed in Minnesota with 4 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety & family conflicts. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey.
I am passionate about working with youth, adults, and couples. You will find me to be an active listener and a mindful therapist. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) in my work with clients.
My personal life journey has led me to a career of service to others. I taught high school English classes before moving to work as a school counselor. I am well-read and traveled, believing both experiences can unlock a deeper understanding of one’s self and one's voice. It is my aim to navigate life with you as we meet.
I received a B.A. in English Literature from North Park University in 2003, an M.A. in Teaching from Bethel University in 2007, and an M.S. in School Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 2018. My work as a school counselor in 2019 and as an LPCC since May 2022.
I am here to support & empower you in that journey!
