About me

Hello! My name is Emily and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with over ten years of experience. I have worked in a variety of therapeutic settings with individuals, couples, and families. I have worked with clients who have faced a variety of challenges, including depression, anxiety, handling a loss, trauma, addictions, career counseling, self-esteem, spirituality, and relationship issues as a couple, parent, or family.

My approach to therapy is client-centered. That means that I view the client as the expert on his or her own life and use both a solution-focused lens to help you accomplish your goals. I use multiple treatment modalities in guiding clients through this process. The one I use the most is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). With this therapy model, I explore how your thoughts, feelings, and behavior are intertwined and impacting you. In addition, I often rely on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help clients identify and change negative thoughts or patterns in their lives as well as a focus on emotional regulation to help you experience life to its fullest.

You are welcome to message me anytime through Better Help. It can be very beneficial to have access to a therapist to work through day-to-day challenges in comparison to a once a week meeting in a traditional therapy setting. I typically check messages at least twice each day, seven days per week. I offer messaging, live chat, and phone sessions. Please note that what you see in my calendar may not reflect my only availability so you always want to check that out with me through messaging first.

Emily is great! She is very understanding and checks in with me when I haven’t reached out and she gives me a lot of great resources and ways to help the way I am feeling, but she doesn’t push me past where I’m comfortable. She lets me take it slow and I really appreciate that. She is great and I highly recommend her!
