About me

“Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.” -Brene Brown. The journey of counseling isn’t always comfortable. It takes us to places we often fear to go. With that fear, we also learn to cope, grow, and manifest a new view on our lives. Things that were once unbearable are easier to carry because you aren’t doing it alone. My name is Emily West, and I'm a licensed practicing counselor. I have been working with clients of all ages for the past seven years. I have a Masters in Community Agency Counseling and a Bachelors in Psychology from Jacksonville State University. Through my practice, I have worked with individuals with a variety of concerns, such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, and stress management. I take an individualized approach to each client, using a variety of cognitive behavioral, solution focused, and client centered techniques.

After being with Emily for three sessions now, I think she is starting to recognize some major issues that I have and gives great advice. I am also starting to be more comfortable around her/therapy in general which is helping me open up more. I am looking forward to our future growth.

Emily is fantastic. I have never been comfortable opening up to a therapist. It’s hard when you don’t feel heard or comfortable. Emily listens, makes me laugh, and just truly gives great advice and structure. I never thought I’d be able to say I look forward to therapy until I was matched with Emily. She even responds to the basic chat quickly. I don’t have much money and live paycheck to paycheck but Emily is someone I need Nanak BFF I’ll be having to continue to work hard to put money back so I can continue to have her. She truly helps me in more ways than she even realizes.
