About me
Hello and welcome! I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois with approximately 8 years of experience working in mental health. Through my time in the field, I have developed a passion for working with young adults, and the unique challenges that face young adults today.
I have experience working with children and adults, with a variety of mental health concerns including (but certainly not limited to) depression, anxiety, grief, substance abuse/addiction, trauma, eating disorders, phase-of-life changes, low self-esteem, and maladaptive sexual behaviors. My therapeutic approach is heavily influenced by Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I believe each client presents with a unique set of concerns and therefore benefits from an individual and collaborative therapeutic relationship.
My approach to therapy is collaborative and goal-oriented. My role as a therapist is first, and foremost, to listen. I believe in creating a safe space to process your most difficult thoughts without fear of judgement. I believe in empowering clients to feel confident in their ability to navigate life’s challenges, through the development of new skills and challenging negative self-talk.
This process can be difficult at times, but I also believe growth and change do not exist without some discomfort. You have taken the steps to begin (or maybe continue) your mental health journey and I look forward to the opportunity to support and empower you along the way.
I'm currently scheduling live sessions Monday-Thursday between the hours of 8AM-5PM. I am not offering weekend or evening sessions, but check my messages multiple times through the day to ensure my clients feel supported between live sessions.

Emma is amazing and I am incredibly thankful for the positive impact she has had on my life.
I'm so grateful for Emma. She's kind, insightful, compassionate and understanding of my issues. I'm so happy she's in my life and I couldn't have been blessed with a better Therapist.

Emma is a wonderful therapist! She makes you feel comfortable even in the darkest moments. Her insights have been so valuable and she does an excellent job of helping you reflect on your thoughts, emotions and behaviors so that lasting changes can take place. Would definitely recommend Emma!
Emma is a really great therapist and person overall. She cares a lot about you and gives you tools in a moment of crisis and time when it feels like the world's caving in to be able to calm down and breathe again. Very knowledgeable and even though I have only know her less than a month has always gotten back to me quickly especially in a moment of crisis and has great availability.
Highly recommend her services.
Emma is a great therapist and a great listener.
I love working with Emma!! She has helped me so much and gave me different strategies to work things through and when I do them I have seen so much improvement with myself. She has helped me so much already and it has only been a short period. She works with me and my crazy schedule. Emma is always listening to me and offering support.
She’s the best! She listens so well. Honestly couldn’t have asked for a better therapist!
Emma is an amazing therapist and I'm grateful my first therapy experience was with her. She's a fantastic listener who really helped me learn to set boundaries and understand my own thoughts.
Emma is super polite and nice. She listens entirely before she suggests solutions/advice/resolutions. She is very professional and knows her profession very well.
I absolutely love Emma, shes an amazing therapist and she listens to me and gives me the best advice.
Emma understands my train of thought and helps me to prioritize what I have going on for the week. She listens to my concerns and knows positive ways to change my outlook.
She is amazing in every way.
Very energetic and open minded, she is so sweet and listens to my concerns and offers a lot of helpful ways to deal with what I need to address. I would recommend her!
I love how available Emma is and she seems to really understand what it is that I am trying to express.
Nice and caring
Emma is the best therapist I've ever had, and I've had a few. She is a fantastic listener and super non-judgmental. I would 100% recommend her.
Emma is an incredible listener and excellent at her job. This was my first experience with therapy and it was truly such a great one. I would recommend her to anyone!
I’ve only been working with Emma for a few weeks, but from the beginning she has been one of the best counselors i’ve ever had. she is very responsive and communities back to me my concerns in ways that let me know she’s actually listening and is there for me.
Emma is one of the best virtual therapists I've experienced. She has helped me in more ways than one and I am so grateful. I would recommend anyone to Emma to help them with any issues.
Emma has been amazing! She has helped me so much in just a few months. Highly recommend!
Emma has been a great therapist and blends real life scenarios with education and practice she's been through. I admire how quick she is to get to the root of an issue and focus on important factors to narrow down an issue. Like peeling an onion, one step at a time and discovering new things along the way. She has helped with my struggles and am grateful for her personality, character and skill as a person and therapist.
She’s exactly what I needed
I've only just started meeting with Emma on a weekly basis but find myself amazed at her attention to detail. I have worked with therapist's in the past who struggle to even remember who I am and we have to waste time at the beginning of every session getting to know each other, however every session with Emma she remembers what we had talked about previously which makes it so much easier to build upon progress. Emma is really great at responding outside of session as well, and even sends helpful tips or concepts every week. She is very empathetic and understanding, and does a great job of finding ways to help clients realize their personal goals. I definitely would recommend Emma to anyone looking for a great therapist and always look forward to our weekly sessions!
Emma helps me a lot.
Emma is an amazingly compassionate and caring therapist who has done wonders for my mental health. She is an attentive listener and offers excellent insight and guidance. She let's me run the sessions how I need them in that moment while redirecting and guiding me to dig deeper or address other issues. She sends out weekly care tips which are tremendously helpful and she even personalizes those weekly tips to demonstrate how it connects back to my current life. Having Emma as my therapist has helped me cope with stress, anxiety, depression, and so much more. She's awesome.
She’s amazing I have had two sessions with her and I feel as if we are both learning from each other.
I have only had one session with Emma, but she seems very lovely. She has offered up a variety of options for counseling and seems to have my best interest in mind. I am looking forward to working with Emma!
I worked with Emma for several months to increase my productivity at work. It was an inexact problem and we continually tried different approaches and talked about what was working and what wasn't. I now feel much better about my job and work habits. A very good experience.
I got so lucky being placed with Emma as my first therapist. She’s attentive. Remembers stuff and is overall AMAZING.
Emma is kind and compassionate - she is always there to lend an ear and offer advice. She offers an inviting space to share with no judgements and has provided me with tools to succeed regardless of the challenge or situation that I present her with.
She has taken the time to not only listen to what I have to say, but she doesn't judge me. And I can feel comfortable telling g her what's been happening with me and my life. 100% recommend
I've been talking to Emma since November 2020 and words cannot express how grateful I am for how much she's helped me. I went through an awful, life changing breakup and Emma helped me work through the most difficult time of my life. She listened, helped me understand my emotions and put my feelings into words that made sense. I'm in such a better place now and I know I couldn't have worked through everything so well without Emma's help and guidance. There's not a word to describe my appreciation, but I hope she truly knows how thankful I am!
Emma is awesome, she is so caring and kind. She really understands and helps me. She empowers me to be the person I’ve always wanted to be. I am great full for her expertise and consistent support.
I adore her. She's relatable. But listens, and is able to help determine the best way to reach out and provide the help you need. Probably best with Millennials.
10/10. I felt comfortable talking to Emma immediately. She has a great, relaxed energy in the way she listens and communicates. She helps me understand and process some of my thoughts and feelings more efficiently, and gives actionable steps to help reduce anxiety, negative thinking etc. Take the plunge, Emma can help.
She has honestly been great and actually helped me. Compared to my past counselor from better help. She's really on point and understanding. Would definitely recommend her. 20/10
Emma is great and relatable. She helps me feel valued and answers my questions and comments quickly!
Emma has really helped me combat my anxiety and depression. Just in 2 months, I am in such a better place. She always responds to my journal entries and messages within a few hours. She also is not judgmental what so ever and always listens! She is amazing!
Emma is an incredible listener and applies a perception of thought to our sessions that truly helps me see things in different ways.
Emma is phenomenal. She does a great job listening and placing things into perspective. Emma made a point to understand my goals with therapy and ensure that those are being addressed. While Emma provides frameworks and introspective provoking questions during our sessions, she also makes a point to provide external sources of information/articles that allow me to continue working on my therapy goals outside of our sessions. I cannot recommend Emma enough to anyone looking to start therapy and/or find a new therapist to work with!
I can always count on Emma to help me work through things. I am noticing real progress in my ability to cope with challenges and stressors. I am grateful that I signed up for betterhelp, and that I was paired with Emma.
Love her!
Emma is extremely thoughtful and responsive. She is a deep listener and has helped me understand the impact of particular events in my life. I would highly recommend her to anyone trying to figure out how to endure difficulties and painful periods in their lives.
Emma is extremely validating, knowledgeable, and approachable. I feel so comfortable talking to her about anything. She’s so understanding and non-judgmental. She’s already helped me work through so much in just a short time.
I really like Emma. She has been so helpful and supportive. She listens to me and helps me look at things I may have missed while doing my own reflections.
Emma is supportive and communicative. Really helpful.
Emma is the least judgemental counselor I've ever spoken to! She makes sure she understands my problems and my needs, and while always highlighting my accomplishments. I also like that she is organized and communicative which helps me stay on top of the therapy process too. At the same time, she is warm and patient, letting me take this therapy process at my own pace. Emma has allowed me to open up and finally process things I've needed to, in a safe space.
She has been very helpful and responsive which I appreciate. I do not feel like I'm the only one talking. I enjoy the feedback.
I have had the pleasure of working with her for only a short time, but in this short time I have been able to see improvements. I am very thankful for her help, and I look forward to working with her more in the future!
I did a few sessions with Emma Peter's and so far has been the best for me. She is a great at her job and I definally recommend her to anyone who needs it.
I think Emma’s really done a great job so far and the sessions are really helping me figure out things about myself,
