About Me

Welcome! Deciding to make changes to your life can be scary, but also rewarding. I applaud you for taking this first step. My name is Erica James and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I specialize in working with relationships, family conflict, and parent-child relational issues. I focus on changing negative patterns that have developed and left you feeling stuck within those relationships and interactions. Often times, we do not realize that we are in these cycles and developed these patterns. That's where having an informed objective perspective could really help to broaden the scope of what is keeping you feeling that way.

My counseling style is warm, inviting, and interactive. I believe in celebrating our uniqueness and embracing our differences by treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, structural and rational-emotive counseling. However, I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs in a way that will make you feel comfortable and understood.

Remember, no one can "fix" your situation. It will take time and hard work on your part to make the changes you want to see made. It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you feel ready to take that step, I will walk with you, support you, and empower you. Let's get started.

I am not exaggerating when I say that she is the single best counselor I have ever had. And I’ve had quite a few. She’s empathetic, understanding, intelligent, and just so real. I’m so blessed to have her. I originally intended to do this platform while I found a face to face counselor but because of her I’ve decided to just talk to her instead.

Erica is the first counselor I have encountered in a long time who actually seems to understand me. She’s empathetic, supportive, and helps me understand my situation from different perspectives.

I was a skeptic about therapy at one point. I didn’t believe that I needed someone to talk to and that it wouldn’t make a difference. I was wrong it’s only been a short time since I’ve been working with Erica, but she’s very understanding and great at scheduling time for her clients. Even when I made myself estranged she was dedicated and made sure to follow up with me to keep me on track. I am super appreciative and happy to be making exponential strides on my personal problems with the help of such a devoted and great counselor.

She’s good at active listening, and she doesnt make me fixate on just one point when I wanna talk about something else. And when she does ask questions it doesn’t feel condescending.
