About Me

I am here to give you the space to express your thoughts and your feelings; and then provide the tools you need to drastically improve your quality of life. Together, we will find the true source of your problem. Once discovered, we can discuss and implement concrete solutions.

I’ve been in the counseling practice for over 10 years. My clients most frequently request help with depressive or anxious disorders, sometimes alongside substance abuse. I’m able to assist with problems related to relationships, motivation, communication, emotion regulation, and life transitions.

My MA in Counseling Psychology is from Northwestern University, and I am licensed through the state of IL. For this reason, I am currently only able to provide services to people that live in Illinois.

I am a practitioner of Third-Wave CBT, meaning I draw on the following: CBT, REBT, DBT, Schema Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Positive Psychology. In addition to being a counselor, I am also a certified personal trainer through NASM, so I am able to offer fitness guidance upon request. My style has been described as insightful, empathic, positive, and direct. I do not underestimate the intelligence of those I work with, nor their ability to answer difficult questions.

I believe if one is mentally healthy, everything else in life will fall into place. I hope to hear from you.

Erika does a great job setting realistic and attainable goals so that I can strive to improve and simultaneously feel a sense of accomplishment. She customizes her sessions to align with current and relevant issues which allows for immediate applicability of the new techniques to be practiced and applied. I have had more success with Erika than any other counseling in the past, which includes in-person sessions. I wouldn’t have thought web camming, which makes attending regularly so convenient, could be so helpful, but it is. Highly recommend.

I came onto to BetterHelp while I was going through a prolonged period of anxiety and depression. Firstly, BetterHelp did a great job in matching me up with Erika. The moment we were matched up and we started communicating, I knew I made the correct choice in coming to this site. Erika understood the situation I was in from the first message and promptly answered with some exercises that gave me immediate relief. Once we started our counseling sessions, she was very patient with me and tried to understand my situation. She not only explained the different techniques but also the thought process that goes into developing those techniques.
She is very good at listening and understanding my situation and directing me towards the correct CBT techniques and resources. I've been having weekly counseling sessions with Erika for almost two months now and it has improved my life as a whole and alleviated most of my symptoms. I will definitely continue counseling with Erika until I have mastered a few techniques of CBT that will help with my depression and anxiety.
