I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with 16 years of experience. I enjoy working with children, teens and adults. I have had the privilege of working with family and couples as well. I have worked with a wide range of concerns including, anxiety, trauma, abuse, depression, parent-child attachment, bereavement, relationship conflict, Bipolar, ADHD, OCD and life transitions.
My counseling approach involves providing a safe, supportive, warm and encouraging environment. I believe in treating everyone with respect, kindness and empathy. I believe my role as a therapist is to meet you where you are and guide you to become happy and healthy, by demonstrating understanding, patience and working together on skills and changes in thought to implement to achieve personal wellness.
The theoretical orientations I generally draw from are brief solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy approaches. However, I combine existential therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance commitment therapy when needed. I use an integrated approach when creating a treatment plan to address each person's individualized therapeutic needs.
Seeking help is a great first step in a creating a happier and healthier life. If you are ready I am here to help you on your journey.
I look forward to working with you!

Erin was kind and patient and allowed me to do things my way without pushing me. We were only together for a short time and due to my own inconsistency with the process we never got to really push things. I would have liked to have been challenged perhaps a little more but I also understand that I was ignoring some of my own needs to address the problems. She offers good therapeutic value and I felt her to be very trustworthy and peaceful.
Erin Gilliland is an EXCELLENT Counselor. She really listens and she helped me SEE who I am. I will always be grateful for my time with her.
I've been working with Erin for a few short weeks, but I'm already so glad to have been paired with her. She asks questions in ways that help me find clarity for myself without needing much intervention. I feel very comfortable being completely honest and opening up to her because I know she'll treat my responses with respect and consideration.
She's amazing and has helped me through one of the hardest times of my life.
I have had enough help to know I needed something else, and that something else was BetterHelp and Erin Gilliland. And then in the process I knew where the hole was and that I could go on. I could trust that. I am lighter and will travel better. I can do this.
Erin has met me where I am. She started with asking me to set goals and now we talk through them as they are applicable in everyday life. She sends audio messages responding to what I say which makes me feel heard and I respond comfortably with sending thought out written messages and she's perfectly okay with the exchanges of different mediums. We've only been working together for a few weeks and she has already helped me so much during this tough time in my life.
Amazing therapist so far, amazing at asking analytical questions. Kind of like a passenger as you take the wheel into your mind.
Erin has been very friendly and welcoming. She never pressures me to continue forward with therapy but is always polite and supportive in reminding me she is here to help. Her relaxed approach to discussing issues makes seeking help feel more accessible, especially during stressful or busy moments in life.
She's a great counselor and makes me feel like I can just relax and open up. I would recommend 100%.
I have been struggling with thanatophobia for the last few years, but have always tried to deal with it myself. After having negative thoughts and fears over the course of a week, I decided it was time to look into some professional help. I switched to Erin over another counselor previously matched to me, because I felt like Erin's bio better related to how I wanted to be treated, my fears and concerns, and her experience felt reliable.
I consider myself to be quite introspective and able to process my thoughts and feelings pretty well, so a part of me was skeptical that I'd be able to find help treating my fear. I was pleasantly surprised with Erin's questions to get me thinking, as well as what I believe is her cognitive behavioral therapy approach. With my fear in particular, I think having active steps to take while processing or experiencing dread is something that I can focus on and work towards without feeling like there's nothing I can do. As a problem solver type of person, this is extremely helpful and gives me great hope that my future won't be as consumed with the afterlife. Thank you, Erin, for all of your help! I feel fortunate to have found you on this site. :)
