About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with 16 years of experience. I enjoy working with children, teens and adults. I have had the privilege of working with family and couples as well. I have worked with a wide range of concerns including, anxiety, trauma, abuse, depression, parent-child attachment, bereavement, relationship conflict, Bipolar, ADHD, OCD and life transitions.

My counseling approach involves providing a safe, supportive, warm and encouraging environment. I believe in treating everyone with respect, kindness and empathy. I believe my role as a therapist is to meet you where you are and guide you to become happy and healthy, by demonstrating understanding, patience and working together on skills and changes in thought to implement to achieve personal wellness.

The theoretical orientations I generally draw from are brief solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy approaches. However, I combine existential therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance commitment therapy when needed. I use an integrated approach when creating a treatment plan to address each person's individualized therapeutic needs.

Seeking help is a great first step in a creating a happier and healthier life. If you are ready I am here to help you on your journey.

I look forward to working with you!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Erin Gilliland . We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Erin has been amazing! Not only she helped me during some really hard times in my life but helped me figure myself out again, regain who I was and who I want to be. I've forgotten myself and with her patience and help and wonderful advice, I've managed to grow and learn about myself and take my mental health seriously. I can't even begin to describe how grateful I am for her and her support!

Erin was kind and patient and allowed me to do things my way without pushing me. We were only together for a short time and due to my own inconsistency with the process we never got to really push things. I would have liked to have been challenged perhaps a little more but I also understand that I was ignoring some of my own needs to address the problems. She offers good therapeutic value and I felt her to be very trustworthy and peaceful.

I've been working with Erin for a few short weeks, but I'm already so glad to have been paired with her. She asks questions in ways that help me find clarity for myself without needing much intervention. I feel very comfortable being completely honest and opening up to her because I know she'll treat my responses with respect and consideration.

I have had enough help to know I needed something else, and that something else was BetterHelp and Erin Gilliland. And then in the process I knew where the hole was and that I could go on. I could trust that. I am lighter and will travel better. I can do this.
